American-Curriculum Schools in the Philippines 2026

TL;DR: Verified against the accreditors' own directories on 29 August 2026, not against listicles: twelve Philippine schools appear in the live ACS WASC directory, three in the Cognia accreditation registry, and four in the Middle States Association members directory. Saint Paul American School Clark is the only school that appears in two of them. US accreditation is a voluntary, non-governmental peer-review process. It makes a transcript legible to an American admissions office and it does not guarantee admission, credit transfer, or that the school teaches an American curriculum at all. British School Manila is WASC-accredited and teaches the English National Curriculum.

What "American curriculum" is being sold as, and what it is

Three different things get marketed under the same phrase in the Philippines.

A US standards-based programme. Saint Paul American School Clark states on its own site that it aligns to the Common Core State Standards for English and mathematics, the Next Generation Science Standards for science and the AERO framework for social studies. That is the closest thing to a portable American school programme, because the standards are the ones a US public school district would recognise.

A US-style structure with a different exit. International School Manila describes a preschool-to-Grade-12 programme built on an American structure, then finishes with the IB Diploma. Brent International School Manila does the same. The transcript looks American, the terminal credential is international.

Advanced Placement as a bolt-on. MIT International School in Muntinlupa runs Advanced Placement courses. AP is a College Board programme, not a curriculum, and a school offering AP is not thereby running an American curriculum for the other eleven years.

None of those three is better than the others. But they answer different questions, and if you are moving back to the United States mid-schooling, the first one is what makes a transfer painless.

The three accreditor directories, checked

Every entry below came from the accreditor's own searchable directory, queried on 29 August 2026. No listicle, no school marketing page.

ACS WASC, the live directory, twelve Philippine schools

The ACS WASC directory reports itself as last updated 24 August 2026. A country search for the Philippines returns twelve accredited schools.

Two observations that matter more than the list itself. British School Manila is on it, and British School Manila teaches the English National Curriculum. And there is nothing in Pampanga, nothing in Iloilo, nothing in Bacolod. If a school in one of those places tells you it is WASC-accredited, it is not in the directory.

Cognia, three Philippine institutions

Cognia is the successor to AdvancED, itself the merger of the old SACS, NCA and NWAC commissions. Its accreditation registry, searched for the Philippines on 29 August 2026, returns three institutions and no more:

  • Everest International Academy, Taguig City 1634, listed under the Semper Altius Network of Schools
  • Noblesse International School, Pampanga 2009
  • Saint Paul American School, Pampanga 2023, listed under Nacel International School Systems

Three, in a country with dozens of schools calling themselves international. That is the number to hold in your head the next time a prospectus mentions Cognia.

Middle States Association, four Philippine entries

  • Chinese International School, Upper McKinley Road, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig — MSA Candidate
  • Domuschola International School, Manila, Pasig — MSA Candidate
  • Harbert Hills Academy Philippines Branch, Don Carlos — Cooperative programme, active and accredited
  • Saint Paul American School, ClarkMSA Active

Candidate is not accredited. It means the school has entered the process and is being evaluated. Ask a candidate school what stage it is at and when the decision visit is scheduled, in the same way you would ask an IB candidate school. The same distinction applies to the IB: Westfields International School in Angeles City states on its own IB page that it is a Diploma Programme candidate and that candidate status carries no guarantee of authorization.

What US accreditation actually certifies

The ACS WASC directory sets out the mechanism in its own introduction. Accreditation is granted after a school-led self-study, an on-site visit by a committee that validates the self-study, and then a commission decision to grant, extend or deny. The commission's own framing is that accreditation "certifies — to other educational institutions and to the general public" that the school meets established standards, and that the primary goal is school self-improvement. Institutional accreditation covers the whole school, not one programme inside it.

The US Department of Education's overview of accreditation adds the constitutional context. Accreditation in the United States is voluntary and non-governmental, carried out by private educational associations that write criteria and run peer evaluations. The Department does not accredit schools and is not directly involved in the accrediting process. Its own "recognition" of accreditors is a separate mechanism, and it is a gatekeeping function for federal student aid in higher education, not a seal applied to a K-12 school in Manila.

What it does not guarantee

Be blunt with yourself about this before you pay a matriculation fee.

  • It does not guarantee admission anywhere. No US university admits on the basis of a school's accreditor. Admission turns on the transcript, course rigour, recommendations, essays and, where required, tests.
  • It does not guarantee credit transfer. Whether a US high school accepts your child's Grade 10 credits is a district or school decision. Accreditation makes the conversation shorter. It does not decide it.
  • It says nothing about curriculum. British School Manila is the standing counter-example.
  • It says nothing about AP or IB availability. Ask which AP subjects were actually examined last year, not which ones appear in the prospectus.
  • It expires. ISM's own accreditation page describes its ACS WASC status as reaffirmed in March 2023 through 30 June 2025. Terms run in cycles and renewals happen on the commission's calendar, not yours. This is exactly why the live directory beats a school's own page.
  • It is not DepEd recognition. A school operating in the Philippines needs DepEd recognition to issue credentials that work inside the Philippines. If your child may finish here, or may need a Philippine transcript for anything, see our guide to DepEd recognition of foreign credentials.

Published fees at the American-programme schools

Only some of these schools publish money. Where they do, the figures below are from the school's own current page or fee document for 2026-2027.

SchoolPublished 2026-2027 feeCurrency structure

ISM's one-time charges for new students are a USD 700 application fee, a USD 4,500 matriculation fee and a USD 4,500 facilities enhancement fee. Brent's are a USD 300 application fee, a USD 3,000 matriculation fee, a USD 1,575 annual capital development fee and a USD 600 seat reservation. Everest charges a one-time PHP 55,000 matriculation fee for new students. Those are the numbers that turn a headline into a bill, and our full cost breakdown for Manila walks through a first-year total.

For the schools that publish nothing, the honest position is that no reliable public figure exists. The PhilSTAR Life annual survey of 25 May 2026 is the best available secondary source and it says plainly which of its figures came from a school website and which were supplied directly. Treat everything else as guesswork.

Questions to ask before you enrol

  1. Show me your entry in the accreditor's directory. Not the logo. The entry.
  2. What is your current accreditation term, and when is the next visit?
  3. Do you also hold DepEd recognition, and for which grade levels?
  4. What diploma will my child physically hold at graduation, and who issues it? This is not hypothetical. Saint Paul American School Clark discloses on its own FAQ that its US partner school in Minnesota moved online after Covid-19 and that from 2025 the dual diploma is issued by the Saint Paul American School System instead.
  5. Which AP subjects did students actually sit last year, and how many?
  6. What does the transcript look like? Ask for a redacted sample. GPA scale, credit values and course titles are what a US registrar reads.
  7. What is the fee schedule for the year I am enrolling, by grade, including one-time charges?

Where these schools sit geographically

The American-programme cluster is not evenly spread. Taguig and Biñan hold the largest schools. Cainta and Davao hold the two mission-founded ones. Pampanga holds both of the Cognia schools and the only MSA Active school. Cebu has one. If you are choosing by location as much as by programme, our regional guides cover Clark and Pampanga, Alabang and south Metro Manila and Cebu. For the faith-founded schools specifically, see Christian and faith-based international schools.

If your child is a foreign national, sort out the immigration side in parallel rather than after acceptance. Start with foreign students in basic education and the Special Study Permit guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Philippine schools are accredited by ACS WASC?

Twelve, as of a search of the live ACS WASC directory on 29 August 2026, with the directory itself stamped as last updated 24 August 2026. They are the three Brent campuses in Baguio, Binan and Subic, British School Manila, Cebu International School, Faith Academy, Faith International Academy, International School Manila, MIT International School, Reedley International School, Southville International School and Colleges, and Stonyhurst Southville International School.

How many Philippine schools are Cognia-accredited?

Three. A country search of Cognia's own accreditation registry on 29 August 2026 returns Everest International Academy in Taguig City, Noblesse International School in Pampanga and Saint Paul American School in Pampanga. Any school claiming Cognia accreditation that does not appear in that registry should be asked to explain the gap.

Which Philippine schools appear in the Middle States directory?

Four, searched on 29 August 2026: Chinese International School in Taguig, listed as MSA Candidate; Domuschola International School in Pasig, listed as MSA Candidate; Harbert Hills Academy Philippines Branch in Don Carlos, listed under the Cooperative programme as active and accredited; and Saint Paul American School, Clark, listed as MSA Active.

Does US accreditation guarantee admission to a US university?

No. Accreditation in the United States is a voluntary, non-governmental peer-review process, and the US Department of Education states that it does not itself accredit schools. What accreditation gives you is a transcript that a US admissions office can read at face value. Admission still turns on grades, course rigour, essays, recommendations and, where required, test scores.

Is a British-curriculum school allowed to hold WASC accreditation?

Yes, and one does. British School Manila appears in the ACS WASC directory as an accredited private school even though it teaches the English National Curriculum and IGCSE. Accreditation is an institutional quality process, not a statement about which curriculum a school teaches. Do not read a WASC listing as proof of an American programme.

What is the difference between accreditation and DepEd recognition?

They answer different questions. DepEd recognition is the Philippine government permit that lets a school legally operate and issue credentials usable inside the Philippines. US accreditation is a voluntary quality review by a private American association. A school needs the first to exist here. The second is optional and is mainly about how the transcript travels.

Which American-curriculum schools publish their fees?

International School Manila, Brent International School Manila, Everest Academy Manila, Faith Academy, Faith International Academy and Chinese International School Manila all publish full schedules for 2026-2027. Southville, MIT International School, Reedley, Noblesse and Saint Paul American School Clark publish no tuition figure on their own sites.

Does an accreditation term ever lapse?

Yes. Accreditation runs in cycles and has to be renewed after a self-study and a visiting committee. International School Manila's own accreditation page describes its ACS WASC status as reaffirmed in March 2023 through 30 June 2025, which is why you should check the accreditor's live directory rather than a school page, and check it on the day you need the answer.
