St. Louis Review Center Cebu: What the Branch Actually Offers

St. Louis Review Center's Cebu branch sits on the fourth floor of the Ala King Cafe Building on J. Llorente Street and covers LET and NLE, plus overseas nursing exams including the Next Generation NCLEX-RN, UK-CBT, HAAD and Prometric. SLRC publishes programme outlines and a free online reviewer nationally, and publishes no classroom fee for any branch. The one price we found across the whole site was a P990 self-review question pack.

Our listing for St. Louis Review Center Cebu has the address, phone and rating. Our SLRC brand guide covers the network as a whole. This post is about the branch, and about the specific gap between what the national brand advertises and what a Cebu reviewee can actually confirm.

What the network publishes

SLRC's site is unusual for a review centre. It is largely a content operation: PRC announcements, room assignments, exam results, practice questions with rationales, and a free online reviewer covering criminology, nursing, teaching and civil service. If you want to sample the house style before spending anything, that free reviewer is the obvious move, and it costs nothing but an hour.

On programmes, the site sets out four national tracks with their inclusions.

ProgrammeWhat SLRC lists as included
LETGeneral and professional education, major subject coverage, mock exams and drills, intensive final coaching, online resources
NLENursing lectures, skills enhancement, board exam simulation, clinical case discussions, daily quizzes
CLE (criminology)Core criminology subjects, case studies, practice tests, crime scene investigation drills, guest lectures
CSE (civil service)Verbal and numerical skills, logical and analytical reasoning, practice tests, time management, current affairs

Those outlines tell you the shape of the programme. They do not tell you the length, the schedule, the class size or the cost, and none of those appear anywhere on the site.

What only the branch knows

Every branch name in SLRC's list links to a Facebook page rather than to a page on the SLRC site. There are no branch pages, no branch schedules, no branch fee sheets. That design decision pushes all operational detail into Messenger.

For Cebu specifically, the linked page is shared with Bohol and Dumaguete. That has a practical consequence when you are reading it: a post announcing a batch start, a venue or a promo may be about any of the three cities, and the page does not always say which. Before you act on something you saw there, ask the page to confirm it applies to the Cebu branch.

The Cebu branch also advertises more than the four national programmes. Alongside LET and NLE, it promotes review for the Next Generation NCLEX-RN and for the UK-CBT, HAAD and Prometric nursing exams, in both onsite and online formats. That is a branch-level offering rather than a national SLRC programme, which makes it exactly the kind of claim to verify by phone. Ask whether a batch is currently running in Cebu, not whether the programme exists.

The overseas nursing angle, and why it is the branch's distinguishing feature

For a Cebu nurse, this is the part that separates SLRC Cebu from the general nursing centres in the city. Four different exams get named, and they are not interchangeable.

NCLEX-RN, in its Next Generation format. The licensure exam for registered nurses in the United States. The Next Generation revision changed the question types substantially, moving toward case-based items that test clinical judgement rather than recall. A review programme built for the old format is not adequate preparation, so ask directly whether the materials are Next Generation materials and when they were last revised.

UK-CBT. The computer-based test that forms the first part of the Nursing and Midwifery Council's registration route for internationally educated nurses. It is a different syllabus from NCLEX and a different examination body.

HAAD. The regulator examination associated with practice in Abu Dhabi, part of the Gulf licensing family that most Filipino nurses encounter when recruiting into the UAE.

Prometric. Not an exam at all, strictly speaking, but the test delivery provider used by several Gulf regulators. When a centre advertises Prometric review it generally means preparation for whichever Gulf regulator exam is delivered through that channel. Ask which country's exam is actually covered, because the answer changes the syllabus.

A candidate who is genuinely undecided between the US, the UK and the Gulf gets real value from one provider covering all four, because switching tracks does not mean switching centres. A candidate who has already chosen a destination should compare against specialists in that one exam instead, and should ask how many students the Cebu branch has actually put through that specific track.

The one published price

Across the whole SLRC site, we found a single price: a PNLE self-review pack listed at P990 as a one-time payment, covering five packs of practice questions, roughly 2,500 items across NP1 to NP5 with rationales, and access running to February 2027. It was posted in March 2026 and credited to the San Pablo City branch.

That is worth knowing for what it is and what it is not. It is a question bank, not a review class. It is priced nationally and sold online, so a Cebu-based nursing candidate can buy it without going anywhere. It tells you nothing about what a face-to-face NLE batch in Cebu costs.

For classroom rates you are back to the phone. When you call, get the total: tuition, books and handouts, mock exam fees, the final coaching phase, and whether a repeat is free or discounted. Our review centre cost guide lists the charges that usually sit outside the headline figure.

How to judge a branch when the brand does the talking

SLRC's site refers to producing many board topnotchers across its history without publishing counts, dates or branch-level figures. That is not unusual and it is not verifiable. PRC publishes results by examinee and recognises top-performing schools; it does not publish performance by review centre. So no claim of this type, from any centre, can be checked against an official source.

What can be checked is the branch. Three things are worth more than any national claim:

  1. Who teaches in Cebu. Ask for the lecturers by name for the subjects you are weakest in, and whether they are based in Cebu or fly in. A network lecturer who covers three cities gives you fewer contact hours than the brochure implies.
  2. How many are in the room. A LET batch of 30 and a LET batch of 200 are different products at the same price. Ask for the actual number in the current batch, not the capacity.
  3. Whether the batch is real. Ask for the start date, the end date and the number already enrolled. Overseas nursing tracks in particular tend to run only when a batch fills.

Use the free reviewer before you pay anyone

The free online reviewer SLRC links from its homepage is the most underrated thing on the site, and it is useful even if you never enrol.

It covers criminology, nursing, teaching and civil service, and it is hosted on a separate SLRC domain rather than behind a paywall. Two ways to get value from it. As a diagnostic, work through a set cold and see where you actually score badly, so that when you call a centre you are asking about your real weak subjects rather than the ones you assume. As a sample, read the rationales rather than just checking answers. A rationale that explains why the wrong options are wrong is the mark of well-made review material. A rationale that restates the correct answer in different words is not, and it tells you something about the paid product from the same organisation.

SLRC also runs a steady stream of free practice items with rationales, PRC announcements, room assignments and results on its main site. For a Cebu candidate that is a free study feed regardless of where you enrol, and it is a better use of an hour than reading more marketing.

A note on the ratings

The Cebu branch carries a high Google rating built on a very small number of reviews, and at least one of those reviews describes airport parking and a shuttle service, which plainly belongs to a different business. This happens often with review centres housed inside shared commercial buildings, because listings get conflated.

The lesson generalises. On a base of under twenty reviews, a single stray or solicited entry moves the average a lot. Read the text of the reviews rather than the number, and give weight to the ones that name a lecturer, a subject or a batch. Our guide to choosing a review centre goes further into which signals survive scrutiny.

Who SLRC Cebu suits

It suits a Cebu-based teaching or nursing candidate who wants a national brand with local classes and does not mind doing the price discovery by phone. It suits a nurse who wants local NLE review and an overseas exam track from the same provider, which is a genuinely uncommon combination in Cebu City.

It suits you less if you need to compare costs before committing time, because nothing on the SLRC site lets you do that. If price transparency matters to you, the Cebu roundup covers centres that publish more, and our NLE review centre guide and LET centre comparison set out what a strong programme in each exam looks like regardless of brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exams does SLRC Cebu cover?

The core programmes are the Licensure Examination for Teachers and the Nurse Licensure Examination. The branch also advertises review for the Next Generation NCLEX-RN and for the UK-CBT, HAAD and Prometric nursing exams used by nurses working abroad. Note that the four programmes SLRC lists nationally are LET, NLE, criminology and civil service, so the overseas nursing tracks are a branch-level offering.

Where is the SLRC Cebu branch?

The fourth floor of the Ala King Cafe Building on J. Llorente Street in Cebu City, near the Don Mariano Cui Street area. It runs under a Facebook page shared with the Bohol and Dumaguete branches, so posts you see there may refer to any of the three.

How much does SLRC Cebu charge?

Classroom review fees are not published, for the Cebu branch or for any other SLRC branch. The only price we found anywhere on the SLRC site was a self-review question pack listed at P990 as a one-time payment, which is a practice-question product rather than a review class. You have to contact the branch for class rates.

Does SLRC have a free reviewer?

Yes. The SLRC site links a free online reviewer covering criminology, nursing, teachers and civil service, hosted on a separate SLRC domain. It costs nothing to try, and it is the cheapest way to see whether the network's question style and rationales suit you before you pay for anything.

How many SLRC branches are there?

The branch list on the SLRC site carries thirty-one entries, spanning Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao. Cebu, Bohol and Dumaguete share a single Facebook page between them, so the count of listed names is higher than the count of independent branch pages.

Does SLRC publish a passing rate?

No. SLRC refers to producing many board topnotchers over its history but publishes no counts, no dates and no branch-level figures. PRC does not publish performance broken down by review centre either, so there is no independent number to check against for this or any other centre.

Is SLRC Cebu good for a nurse going abroad?

It is one of the few Cebu centres advertising NCLEX-RN, UK-CBT, HAAD and Prometric review together with the local NLE, which is convenient if you want a single provider for both. Ask which of those tracks is running as a live batch in Cebu right now rather than listed on a poster, because overseas tracks often run only when enough candidates sign up.
