Courses Offered at University of Santo Tomas

The University of Santo Tomas publishes its own programme list, one page per degree, and every page names the faculty, college or institute that confers it. That grouping matters more than the alphabetical list you find on aggregator sites: the unit you enter decides your entrance screening, your schedule of fees, and in practice which building you spend four years in.

Below is that list, organised the way UST organises it. If you want the address, contacts and level flags instead, those live on the University of Santo Tomas profile.

How UST is structured

UST lists nineteen degree-granting civil faculties, colleges, institutes and schools, three ecclesiastical faculties, and three basic education schools. The founding years in brackets are UST's own.

Civil units: UST-Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy (2004), College of Architecture (1930), Faculty of Arts and Letters (1896), Faculty of Civil Law (1734), College of Commerce and Business Administration (1933), College of Education (1926), Faculty of Engineering (1907), College of Fine Arts and Design (2000), Graduate School (1938), Graduate School of Law (2017), College of Information and Computing Sciences (2014), Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (1871), Conservatory of Music (1945), College of Nursing (1946), Faculty of Pharmacy (1871), Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (2000), College of Rehabilitation Sciences (1974), College of Science (1926) and College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (2006).

Ecclesiastical: Faculty of Canon Law (1733), Faculty of Philosophy (1611), Faculty of Sacred Theology (1611).

Conservatory of Music

The Conservatory accounts for the largest block of entries because every instrument is its own major. Bachelor of Music is offered in Composition, Jazz, Music Education, Music Technology, Music Theatre and Musicology, plus Bachelor of Music in Performance with majors in bassoon, choral conducting, clarinet, double bass, flute, French horn, guitar, oboe, orchestral conducting, percussion, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin, violoncello and voice.

What UST does not publish

A few things you will not find on the University's own pages, and should not assume from third-party listings:

  • BS Travel Management is still linked from an older UST page but no longer has a live programme page under the current academic programme list. Treat it as discontinued unless the Office for Admissions says otherwise.
  • Per-programme quotas. UST publishes the criteria mechanism but not the number of slots per course.
  • Cut-off scores. There is no published USTET passing score by programme. Anyone quoting one is guessing.

How the USTET actually scores you

UST's admissions site sets this out clearly, and it is the single most useful thing on it:

  • The overall final rating is 80 per cent entrance test score and 20 per cent computed average grades in English, Mathematics and Science, taken from the USTET Application Grades Form.
  • College applicants choose two programmes: a priority programme and an alternative. The alternative is only processed if you miss the priority's criteria, and it is subject to that unit's own standards. Senior High School applicants choose one.
  • Only Grade 12 students may apply for college entry. Graduates of previous school years, PEPT and ALS A&E passers, applicants from foreign schools and foreign nationals graduating from local schools may apply after securing clearance from the UST Manila Office of the Registrar.
  • Passing the USTET is not the whole story. UST states that some programmes require an additional entry assessment — an interview, a talent test such as an audition or drawing, or something similar.

Application fees are set by category. UST's published schedule puts Filipino applicants from local schools, Filipino graduates of previous school years, and PEPT/ALS A&E passers at PHP 600.00 for Manila, satellite and provincial testing centres; graduating Filipino applicants from foreign schools, non-Filipino applicants in Philippine schools and international students at PHP 1,000.00; LEAPMed applicants at PHP 3,600.00; applicants with international credentials at PHP 3,000.00; and international testing centres at PHP 6,000.00. Fees are waived for public-school applicants awarded Highest Honors, for applicants eligible under the Free College Entrance Examinations Act (Republic Act No. 12006), and for children of UST Manila support staff.

If you are still deciding which entrance tests to sit, entrance exams compared lines up the major ones, and the USTET reviewer guide covers coverage and preparation.

Beyond Manila

UST publishes separate schedules of fees for UST General Santos, which currently lists BS Accountancy, BS Accounting Information Systems, BS Entrepreneurship, BS Industrial Engineering major in Systems Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Medical Technology, BS Medical Biology and BS Pharmacy. There is also a UST Santa Rosa, Laguna campus. The programme mix outside España is much narrower, so check the fee schedules page rather than assuming the Manila list applies.

Graduate and professional programmes

Above the bachelor's level UST runs the Graduate School, the Graduate School of Law, the Faculty of Civil Law (Juris Doctor), the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (Doctor of Medicine), and the Faculty of Pharmacy's Doctor of Pharmacy, plus the three ecclesiastical faculties offering Bachelor, Licentiate and Doctorate in Theology, Canon Law and Philosophy.

Graduate admission is handled separately by the Graduate School and has its own published policy: a bachelor's general weighted average of at least 2.00 for master's entry and at least 1.35 at master's level for doctoral entry, an admission examination, and a bar or board licence where the degree requires one. Foreign graduate students pay an out-of-state fee set at USD 2,750 for master's and USD 3,500 for doctoral programmes.

Cost

UST publishes a schedule of fees per faculty and college for the first term of A.Y. 2026-2027, plus separate schedules for the General Santos programmes and for its basic education units. Because those are per-term figures with unit-load and laboratory components, the honest answer to "how much is UST" depends on your programme and load. Our UST tuition fee guide works through the published schedules college by college, and the UST Legazpi tuition guide covers that separate institution.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many courses does UST offer?

UST does not headline a single number, and any figure you see quoted elsewhere depends on whether majors are counted separately. What the University publishes is a programme-by-programme list at ust.edu.ph/academics/programs, where every entry names the faculty, college or institute that offers it. The Conservatory of Music alone accounts for more than twenty entries because each performance instrument is its own major.

Which UST faculty offers Medical Technology?

The Faculty of Pharmacy. This surprises people who expect it under the College of Science or a health-sciences college. UST's programme pages place BS Medical Technology and BS Biochemistry under the Faculty of Pharmacy's Department of Medical Technology and Department of Biochemistry respectively, alongside BS Pharmacy and the five-year BS Pharmacy major in Clinical Pharmacy.

Can I choose two courses on the USTET?

Yes for college applicants. UST's admissions guidelines let college applicants pick a priority programme and an alternative programme. If you do not meet the criteria for the priority, you are considered for the alternative, subject to that academic unit's own criteria. Senior High School applicants pick only one programme.

Is passing the USTET enough to get into my chosen course?

No. UST states plainly that passing the USTET is not the sole basis for admission to some programmes, and that some require an additional entry assessment such as an interview, an audition, a drawing test or a similar activity. Design, music and a handful of other programmes are the usual ones affected, so check the academic unit before you commit to a priority choice.

Does UST publish its tuition fees?

Yes. UST posts a schedule of fees for each faculty and college on its Tuition Fees page, currently covering the first term of A.Y. 2026-2027 for UST Manila plus separate schedules for the UST General Santos programmes. The schedules are per term, not per year, so the second term is billed separately.

Does UST offer courses outside Manila?

Yes. UST publishes separate fee schedules for UST General Santos, which lists a smaller set of programmes including BS Accountancy, BS Accounting Information Systems, BS Entrepreneurship, BS Industrial Engineering major in Systems Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Medical Technology, BS Medical Biology and BS Pharmacy. UST also runs a Santa Rosa, Laguna campus.

What is the difference between BS Sports Science and BS Fitness and Sports Management at UST?

They sit in different units. BS Sports Science is offered by the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, alongside Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology. BS Fitness and Sports Management is offered by the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics. Same broad subject area, different home unit and different faculty.
