Recently my sister and I, together with a friend, visited UST as part of our balikbayan itinerary. We wanted to visit the grounds and see improvements - as we heard there are a lot that changed over the years - with our Alma Mater. We were excited to go in only to be redirected by the guard to enter through gate 7 - this is totally fine. We understand there are security measures that need to be enforced and this is just one of them. At gate 7 we were asked by the guard where we are going, so I abruptly said "sa church" - which was partly true since we did go - but I didn't say we were also going to the ustore to buy some merchandise. Being an alumni (all 3 of us), I thought we would be welcomed to our old stomping ground. As we were let in, the guard said - " sa church lang kayo ha!". I wanted to say to manong guard, "alumni" naman kme. But I don't think it would have mattered to him. I just felt sad that we came all the way from abroad and thought of visiting UST, but I think we are no longer welcome here. I do hope UST alumni association will come up with some sort of an ID for alumni so we can have some sort of a pass when visiting. I will definitely secure an ID/ pass and pay for it if ever there's one. Just so manong guard will not tell me that my visit is restricted to one place.

My Alma Mater...I graduated in 1992 and I think I have only visited my beloved University a few times...today, I accompanied my daughter and her friends wishing to transfer here on their Senior High next year...
Absolutely beautiful and iconic place. The grounds is very well-maintained and seemed very safe. I took a nice quick look at the museum that was quite small but captured the essence of the importance of the university. The university just had a really nice vibe to it and the greenery was just really nice to look at. Had no issues with anyone here and everyone was just friendly.
This is the biggest university in the city of Manila and being the only Pontifical university in the Philippines it was the only university to be visited by the Pope. The main building is truly an architectural heritage as the first earthquake-proof structure in the entire country. You could have a leisurely walk around its several parks or hear mass an the air conditioned Santissimo Rosario Parish. The Museum of Arts and Sciences is the oldest existing museum in the country so it is worth a visit. The University will be celebrating its 400th founding anniversary next year so there will be a lot of activities planned.
