St. Joseph School - La Salle (SJS-LS) is a Catholic school in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, run by the De La Salle Brothers of the Philippine District. It traces its roots to 1954, when the La Salle Brothers and the Young Ladies' Association of Charity established the Immaculate Conception Free School for the children of laborers in the then-remote Barrio Obrero. A secondary school, St. Joseph's High School, was added in 1960 on land donated by Alfredo Montelibano Sr., and the school went coeducational in 1971. It adopted its present name, St. Joseph School - La Salle, in school year 2005-2006 to formally identify with the worldwide Lasallian family of schools founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle. The school runs a merit-based scholarship program - including the Perpetual, Academic, SJIOBA, and Alumni scholarships - for top graduates and top admission-test scorers, and participates in DepEd's Educational Service Contracting (ESC) and Education Voucher System (EVS) tuition-subsidy programs for qualified students.
