The University of the East is really three things sharing a name: a Manila campus, a Caloocan campus, and UERM, which operates under its own corporate identity. Programme lists differ across all three, and applicants regularly turn up with the wrong one.
This post sets out what each campus actually offers, taken from UE's own college pages and from the per-college fee schedules UE publishes for the current school year. Directory listings were not used.
UE's location and contact details sit on our University of the East profile. What follows is the part that page does not carry.
UE Manila
College of Arts and Sciences
- BS Biology
- BS Medical Technology
- BS Psychology
- BS Legal Management
- BS Hospitality Management
- BS Tourism Management
- BA Political Science
- BA Broadcasting
- BA International Studies
BA International Studies is the one that stands out. Relatively few Manila universities carry it as a standalone degree rather than a political science major. Our AB Political Science guide covers the closest neighbouring option if you are still deciding.
College of Business Administration
- BS Accountancy
- BS Management Accounting
- BS Business Administration major in Business Management
- BS Business Administration major in Financial Management
- BS Business Administration major in Marketing Management
UE also publishes a separate fee schedule for something it calls a BSBA Special Degree Program. That file carries an older school year in its header than the rest of the college schedules, so treat it as a programme to ask about rather than one to plan around. It is also worth asking which majors are actually opening in the term you enrol, since a published major is not run every cycle.
College of Computer Studies and Systems
- BS Computer Science
- BS Information Technology
- BS Data Science
- BS Entertainment and Multimedia Computing with specialization in Digital Animation
- BS Entertainment and Multimedia Computing with specialization in Game Development
The two Entertainment and Multimedia Computing specialisations are listed as separate programmes with their own unit counts, not as electives you pick later. Choose deliberately. Our BS Game Development guide covers what that field actually expects of graduates.
College of Education
- Bachelor of Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Secondary Education
- Bachelor of Special Needs Education - Generalist
- Bachelor of Physical Education
- BS in Exercises major in Fitness and Sports Management
- BS Nutrition and Dietetics
Two things here. Nutrition and dietetics sitting under the College of Education rather than a health or science college is a UE-specific arrangement, and it does not change the degree itself. See our BS Nutrition and Dietetics guide for the licensure route. And Bachelor of Special Needs Education is a full four-year degree in its own right, not a specialisation bolted onto elementary education.
College of Engineering
- BS Civil Engineering
- BS Computer Engineering
- BS Mechanical Engineering
- BS Electrical Engineering
Each of these four also appears in a "with Bridging Program" version carrying more units and a higher fee. See the bridging section below.
College of Dentistry
- Doctor of Dental Medicine
- Doctor of Dental Medicine with Bridging Program
UE also publishes a separate graduate dentistry fee schedule. Dentistry is one of the programmes UE is best known for, and it is Manila-campus only. Expect a longer programme than a four-year degree and a clinical requirement that dictates your schedule.
College of Law
- Juris Doctor
Graduate School
UE's graduate fee schedule groups programmes by tuition band rather than by department. The programmes named on it include Master in Education in Physical Education, Master in Education in English, Master of Arts in Education in Educational Administration and Leadership, Master of Arts in Education in English as a Second Language, Master in Business Administration, Master in Business Administration in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Master of Science in Accountancy (thesis), Master in Accountancy (non-thesis), Master in Information Technology, a ladderised Master in Public Administration with Graduate Diploma, Master in Construction Management, Master in Construction Management Executive (non-thesis), Doctor of Business Administration, Doctor of Education in Educational Administration and Leadership, Doctor of Philosophy in Multidisciplinary Metropolitan Studies, and Doctor of Information Technology.
One caveat you should apply yourself: the graduate schedule PDF carries an older school year in its header than the undergraduate college schedules on the same page. Confirm current graduate rates with the Graduate School directly.
Basic Education
UE Manila runs kindergarten, elementary, junior high school and senior high school, each with its own published fee schedule.
UE Caloocan
The Caloocan campus is not a smaller copy of Manila. It has a college Manila does not have and carries programmes Manila does not offer.
College of Business Administration
- BS Accountancy
- BS Management Accounting
- BS Business Administration major in Financial Management
- BS Business Administration major in Business Management
- BS Business Administration major in Marketing Management
College of Arts and Sciences
- AB Communication
- BS Psychology
- BS Criminology
- BS Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science
- BS Tourism Management
- BS Hospitality Management
BS Criminology is Caloocan only. If that is your programme, applying to Manila is a wasted application. Our BS Criminology guide covers the board examination and what the degree leads to.
College of Engineering
- BS Civil Engineering
- BS Computer Engineering
- BS Electronics Engineering
- BS Mechanical Engineering
- BS Electrical Engineering
- BS Computer Science
- BS Information Technology
Note that Caloocan offers BS Electronics Engineering while the Manila engineering schedule does not, and that computer science and information technology sit inside the engineering college at Caloocan rather than in a separate computing college. As in Manila, the five engineering programmes each have a bridging version.
College of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design
- BS Architecture
- BS Interior Design
- Bachelor of Fine Arts - Visual Communication
- Bachelor of Fine Arts - Painting
- Bachelor of Multimedia Arts
This college exists only at Caloocan. If you want architecture, interior design or fine arts at UE, that is the campus. Fine arts and interior design lead in very different directions despite sharing a college, and only one of them has a licensure examination.
Basic Education
Caloocan runs kindergarten, elementary, junior high school including a science-based junior high track, and senior high school.
Bridging programmes, and why they change your budget
UE lists several programmes twice: once as the standard version and once "with Bridging Program". The bridging versions carry more units in the first semester and a correspondingly higher fee. This applies across the engineering programmes at both campuses and to Doctor of Dental Medicine in Manila.
Bridging versions generally exist for applicants whose senior high school strand did not cover the prerequisites the programme assumes. This is not a penalty, but it is a real difference in load and cost, and UE's fee schedules make that difference explicit rather than hiding it.
Ask admissions, before you enrol, which version your senior high strand places you in. Your Grade 11 and 12 subjects are what determine this, so raise it during application rather than at enrolment.
What UE publishes about fees
UE is more transparent than most private universities here. Its School Fees page carries separate PDF schedules per campus, per college and per student type, each showing the number of units, the full payment amount upon enrolment, the downpayment, the monthly instalment and the total. Instalment balances after downpayment are payable in four equal monthly instalments.
The same schedules publish the cancellation charges: a processing fee plus a fixed amount before classes start, then a processing fee plus 25 percent of total school fees in the first week, 50 percent in the second week, and 100 percent from the third week onward. Late instalment payments carry a per-instalment charge that accumulates, and a percentage of the outstanding balance after the last instalment falls due.
Two practical cautions. Read the school year printed at the top of each PDF, because not every file on the fees page carries the same one. And note that the schedules are labelled estimates for incoming freshmen in the first semester, so your actual assessment depends on the units you enrol in. Our University of the East tuition fee guide walks through how to read them.
Admission requirements
UE's published pre-admission requirements are an accomplished application form, one recent 2x2 photograph, proof of payment of the application fee, and one academic record appropriate to your situation: a Grade 12 report card for Grade 12 graduates, a PEPT or ALS rating for non-formal education graduates, a Grade 11 report card for current Grade 12 students, a transcript or certification of grades for college transferees or degree holders, or a permit to cross-enrol for cross-enrollees.
Freshmen then submit the original Form 138 or 137A, an original certificate of good moral character, and a PSA-authenticated birth certificate. Valedictorians and salutatorians of batches with 50 or more graduates submit a principal's certificate stating the rank and batch size, which matters for scholarship consideration.
Transferees additionally submit transfer credentials or honourable dismissal, a transcript or certification of grades, a certificate of good moral character and a drug-free certificate from a DOH-accredited laboratory or hospital.
Non-resident international students face a longer list including scholastic records authenticated by the Philippine Embassy, documentary proof of financial support, an authenticated police clearance, a medical health certificate with a standard-size chest X-ray, NICA clearance from the Bureau of Immigration, two letters of recommendation, a personal history statement, and an ACR or Special Study Permit. An acceptance fee and a processing fee are both quoted in US dollars.
UERM
UE's own contact page lists three campuses: Manila, Caloocan and UERM. UERM is the UE Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, and it runs from its own website with its own trunkline and its own admissions process.
Nothing in this post covers UERM's programme list, because that list is published on the UERM site rather than on UE Manila's or Caloocan's. If medicine or a UERM health programme is your target, start there. Medical admission in the Philippines assumes a completed bachelor's degree and an aptitude test, so plan several years ahead.
