Courses Offered at Taguig City University

Taguig City University is a young local university with a wider course list than most people expect: twenty undergraduate programmes, including three board-track engineering degrees and a full teacher-education line. What it does not publish is a fee schedule, and what it does publish very clearly is a residency and voter test. If you are not a Taguig resident, read the admission notices before you read the course list.

Here is the offering as TCU publishes it on its own site, unit by unit, plus the admission mechanics that the course pages do not carry. Address, contacts and level flags are on the Taguig City University profile.

Programmes by academic unit

College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)

  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology
  • Bachelor of Science in Social Work

TCU describes the psychology programme as preparation for graduate study or applied psychology careers rather than as a terminal professional qualification, which is the honest framing. Our BS Psychology guide covers what that means for licensure. The social work programme leads to a licensure examination; see the BS Social Work guide.

College of Business and Management (CBM)

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource Management — marked Level II
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management
  • Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship
  • Bachelor of Science in Office Administration

College of Criminal Justice (CCJ)

  • Bachelor of Science in Criminology — marked Level II

TCU is direct about what the degree is for. Its own page notes that graduates who pass the Criminologist Licensure Examination enjoy priority in appointments within the PNP, NBI, BJMP, BFP and LTO, and lists a long set of other agencies where licensed criminologists work. The BS Criminology guide sets out what the board exam covers.

College of Education (CED)

  • Bachelor in Elementary Education — marked Level I
  • Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English
  • Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics
  • Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science

College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM)

  • Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management
  • Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management

TCU states that the hospitality programme embeds TESDA competencies in front office services, housekeeping, bartending, food and beverage services, baking and pastry production, and commercial cooking, with the explicit aim that students can be employable before finishing the degree. If you are choosing between hospitality programmes, that stacking of national certificates is the differentiator worth asking about.

College of Engineering and Technology (CET)

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology

Three board programmes and one that is not. TCU describes BS Industrial Technology as a four-year degree carrying 1,200 hours of practicum, on-the-job training and skills tests, with specialisation in automotive, electrical and electronics, aimed at supervisory and managerial roles in industry. It is a legitimate route into technical work. It is not a route to a PRC engineering licence, and confusing the two costs years.

College of Information and Communication Technology (CICT)

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Science in Information System

The second one is published in the singular on TCU's page. The standard CHED programme name is Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, and that is almost certainly what is meant, but if you need the exact degree title for a scholarship form or an employer, get it from the registrar rather than from the web page.

Institute of Public Policy and Governance (IPPG)

  • Bachelor of Public Administration — marked Level I

This unit was carved out separately from the College of Arts and Sciences, which is why older directory listings still file public administration under CAS. Our public administration course guide covers where the degree leads.

Graduate School (GS)

  • Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Management
  • Master in Business Administration
  • Master in Public Administration
  • Master of Science in Criminal Justice

What the accreditation marks mean

TCU marks accreditation status on individual programme entries rather than in a single table: Level II on BS Criminology and on BSBA major in Human Resource Management, Level I on Bachelor in Elementary Education and Bachelor of Public Administration.

Local universities and colleges are accredited through the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation, which runs a different ladder from PAASCU and PACUCOA on the private side. A Level I or Level II mark tells you a programme has been through an external survey round. It does not tell you the licensure passing rate, and TCU does not publish one on its programme pages.

Admission: residency first, grades second

TCU's published admission notices are unusually blunt about the residency test, and it is the single thing most likely to end an application.

Transferees, AY 2026-2027. TCU opened online transferee applications over 18 to 19 June 2026. To qualify, an applicant had to be an incoming second-year student with a general weighted average of at least 2.25 or 85 per cent, with no failed or incomplete subjects on record. The notice adds that applicants must comply with the residency and voter requirements prescribed by the university, and frames this as part of TCU's commitment to serving Taguig residents.

Graduate school, AY 2026-2027. Same two-day window, 18 to 19 June 2026, online application. The published reminder is specific: the voter's certificate submitted as part of the admission requirements must have been issued in 2023 or earlier. That is a length-of-residency test, not a document formality. A certificate issued last month will not satisfy it.

Returnees. TCU runs a separate returnee admission process for AY 2026-2027 rather than folding returning students into the transferee track.

Two things follow. First, the application windows are short. Two days is not a typo, and TCU has used two-day windows across categories. Watch the university's events and news feed rather than checking once a term. Second, if you are a Taguig resident who is not yet a registered voter, and you are 18 or older, register early. Voter registration is not something you can complete in the two days an application window is open.

Fees, and what TCU does not publish

TCU does not publish a tuition schedule, a miscellaneous fee list, or an entrance-test fee anywhere on its site. That absence is consistent with a locally funded university whose students are covered by the free higher education law, Republic Act 10931, administered through CHED-UniFAST. It is not proof of it. Ask the registrar what a first-semester assessment actually looks like for your category, especially if you are a second-degree taker or a graduate student, since those groups are commonly outside the free-tuition subsidy.

For the wider picture on how Metro Manila's local universities differ on residency, subsidy and slot allocation, see free college options in Taguig and free city universities in Metro Manila.

The LANI scholarship, and a caution about it

TCU hosts a page for the Taguig City L.A.N.I. Scholarship Program, established under City Ordinance Number 9, Series of 2011, with implementing guidelines issued under EO 2011-11. The published qualification criteria are: bona fide residence in Taguig for at least three years immediately preceding the application, registered voter status if 18 or older with at least one parent also registered in the city, good moral character, determination to finish the course or pass the board or bar examination, and commitment to serve Taguig.

The page publishes a benefits table by scholarship type. Premier, Full and Priority grants are shown at PHP 40,000 to PHP 50,000 per school year, mostly aimed at Taguig residents studying at UP, CHED-designated Centers of Excellence, or DOST-listed priority courses at DOST-listed schools. Basic plus SUC or LCU is shown at PHP 15,000, the SUC or LCU grant for private high school graduates at PHP 10,000, and the Basic grant at PHP 10,000. A one-time Review grant is shown at PHP 10,000 for first-time board or bar takers and PHP 5,000 for retakers who did not qualify earlier.

Here is the caution. The same page still shows an application period for the first semester of school year 2015-2016. The amounts and the criteria may have been revised since. Treat the table as the shape of the programme, not as this year's numbers, and confirm both with the Taguig city scholarship office before planning around a figure.

Note also what the table implies: several LANI tiers are designed for Taguig residents studying somewhere other than TCU. If you are choosing between TCU and a private university, the city grant is part of the comparison, not a reason to rule the private option out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What courses are offered at Taguig City University?

TCU publishes twenty undergraduate programmes across seven colleges and its Institute of Public Policy and Governance, plus four graduate degrees through the Graduate School. The undergraduate spread covers psychology and social work, business, criminology, teacher education, hospitality and tourism, engineering and industrial technology, and computing.

How many colleges does TCU have?

Eight academic units carry undergraduate programmes on the TCU site: the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Management, College of Criminal Justice, College of Education, College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, College of Engineering and Technology, College of Information and Communication Technology, and the Institute of Public Policy and Governance. The Graduate School is a ninth unit.

Does TCU offer engineering?

Yes. The College of Engineering and Technology publishes BS Civil Engineering, BS Industrial Engineering and BS Mechanical Engineering, alongside BS Industrial Technology. The first three are board programmes leading to Professional Regulation Commission licensure. BS Industrial Technology is not, and TCU describes it as a four-year programme with 1,200 hours of practicum and skills testing in automotive, electrical and electronics.

Is TCU free?

TCU does not publish a tuition or fee schedule on its website. It is a local university of the Taguig city government, and free higher education in state and local universities is administered under Republic Act 10931 through CHED-UniFAST. TCU admission notices focus on residency and voter requirements rather than fees, which is consistent with a subsidised local university, but confirm the current arrangement with the registrar before you assume anything is free.

What are TCU admission requirements for transferees?

For AY 2026-2027 TCU published these: an applicant must be an incoming second-year student with a general weighted average of at least 2.25 or 85 per cent, with no failed or incomplete subjects, and must comply with the residency and voter requirements the university prescribes. Applications were online, over a two-day window.

Does TCU require a voter certificate?

Its published admission notices say yes. The graduate school admission announcement for AY 2026-2027 states that the voter certificate submitted as part of the requirements must have been issued in 2023 or earlier, which is a residency-length test rather than a formality. Check the exact wording for your applicant category each cycle.

What accreditation do TCU programmes hold?

TCU marks accreditation status on individual programme entries. BS Criminology and BS Business Administration major in Human Resource Management are shown at Level II, and Bachelor in Elementary Education and Bachelor of Public Administration at Level I. Local universities are accredited through ALCUCOA rather than PAASCU or PACUCOA.

Does TCU have a graduate school?

Yes, with four published programmes: Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Management, Master in Business Administration, Master in Public Administration, and Master of Science in Criminal Justice. TCU ran graduate admissions for AY 2026-2027 as an online application over 18 to 19 June 2026.
