Nueva Vizcaya State University, Bayombong

Nueva Vizcaya State University traces its origin to 1916, when it opened in Bayombong as a farm settlement school offering only the intermediate curriculum. A secondary curriculum followed two years later, and the school was renamed first as the Bayombong Rural School and then, in 1930, as the Nueva Vizcaya Rural High School. Two Republic Acts moved it up the ladder: Republic Act No. 1580 converted it into the Nueva Vizcaya National Agricultural School in 1956, and Republic Act No. 4055 made it the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural College in 1964. Its present mandate is broader than the agricultural name it carried for decades, covering advanced instruction and professional training in agriculture, arts, science, technology and education, together with research and extension work in the province.
