Courses Offered at Cebu Technological University Main Campus

TL;DR: Cebu Technological University Main Campus publishes something almost no other Philippine university does: a full curricular offerings matrix showing every programme with its required grade average, subject-grade conditions, day and evening sections, application slots and enrolment slots, plus how each college weights grades, entrance exam and interview. Engineering needs a 90 average. Education needs 85 or above. Civil Engineering shows 1,000 application slots against 70 enrolment slots.

College of Arts and Sciences

• BS Psychology, GWA 85, no grade below 80 in any subject, 500 application slots and 80 enrolment slots

• BS Biology major in Ecology, GWA 85, 300 and 60 day, 200 and 30 evening

• BA English Language, majors in English Language Studies as a Discipline and English Language Across Professions, GWA 80

The English and Literature degrees each split into a "studies as a discipline" track and an "across professions" track, which is a more considered structure than the usual single AB English. One caution on the matrix: it labels BS Psychology as a board programme. There is no licensure exam at bachelor's level in psychology. What the degree does is qualify you to sit the psychometrician exam, and with a master's, the psychologist exam.

College of Computer, Information and Communications Technology

• Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Computer Technology, GWA 80, 300 and 100
• BS Information Systems, GWA 85, no grade below 80 in all subjects, 300 and 100

None is board-regulated. Note that the industrial technology route sits in the same college as the two BS degrees, so the choice between a technology bachelor and a computing bachelor is made at application, not later.

College of Management and Entrepreneurship

• Bachelor of Public Administration, GWA 80, 300 and 150
• BS Hospitality Management, GWA 80, 300 and 150
• BS Tourism Management, GWA 80, 300 and 150
• BS Entrepreneurship, GWA 80, 300 and 150
• BSBA major in Marketing Management, GWA 80, 300 and 150

This is the most accessible college on paper: the lowest grade bar, the largest enrolment slots, and every programme running both day and evening.

College of Engineering

Seven programmes, and every one requires a GWA of 90.

The slot ratios are the story. Civil Engineering takes 70 students per section from 1,000 application slots, and Aerospace 35 from 500. A 90 average is the entry ticket, not the finish line.

One flag worth raising rather than glossing over: the university's own matrix marks Electronics Engineering as holding a Certificate of Program Compliance, but shows Computer, Industrial, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering as "No COPC". COPC is the regulator's confirmation that a programme meets minimum standards, and for a board programme it matters at licensing time. College of Education

The widest college on campus, and everything in it is board-regulated through the Licensure Examination for Teachers. Every programme requires 85 or above.

• Certificate of Technology-Special Education, Computer Technology and Food Technology tracks, GWA 75 or above, non-board

Eight BTVTEd majors is a genuinely deep technical-teaching offering, and it reflects what the university is for.

College of Technology

Bachelor of Industrial Technology runs with majors in Automotive (GWA 85), Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Machine Shop Technology, Power Plant Technology, Welding and Fabrication, Civil Technology, Food and Culinary Management, Drafting, Industrial Design Technology, Food Preparation, Cosmetology, Garments, Electrical and Electronics, all at GWA 80. Alongside them sit BS Graphics Design and BS Mechatronics at GWA 88, and a BS Technology Management listed as in progress at GWA 80.

How admission is actually scored

This is the most useful thing on the page, and it varies more than most applicants expect. Weights for Main Campus:

Read that against your own strengths. A strong test-taker with a mediocre transcript has a real path into Management and Entrepreneurship, where grades count for 10 percent, and almost none into Education, where they count for 60. Engineering puts half the weight on the entrance exam, so the 90 average gets you in the door and the test decides the rest.

All Main Campus colleges administer the admission test in campus, computer-based.

Requirements and fees

For first-year college applicants, CTU lists: Form 138 high school report card, or a Certificate of Rating for Alternative Learning System or its equivalent; Certificate of Good Moral Character; two 2x2 recent ID pictures with white background and nametag; a long brown envelope or folder; the official receipt of the testing fee; and the admission test.

Transferees present a Certificate of Transfer Credentials or informative copy of the transcript, a good moral certificate, two 2x2 photos, and an endorsement letter signed by the Campus Director if transferring from another CTU campus.

Foreign students face a longer list, including a Personal History Statement in English and their national alphabet with thumbprints, an authenticated transcript, a notarised affidavit of support with bank statements, passport data page, authenticated birth certificate, police or NBI clearance from the country of origin, quarantine medical clearance, and Bureau of Immigration requirements. The university states plainly that a foreign student's fees are three times the Filipino rate.

CTU is a state university, so tuition for qualified Filipino undergraduates falls under the free higher education law. That is not the same as free enrolment: the testing fee is charged at application, and assessments carry items outside the coverage.
