Ateneo de Manila publishes a single Degrees and Majors page for its undergraduate offering, grouped by discipline rather than by school, and it carries a date stamp and a footnote about honors programmes. That page is the one to trust. Directory listings and forum threads circulate older versions with programmes that have since been renamed or closed to new students.
Here is what Ateneo currently publishes, plus the parts of the admission process that the list does not spell out. Basic institutional details — address, contact numbers, levels served — sit on the Ateneo de Manila University profile.
Which schools take undergraduates
Ateneo describes itself as twelve schools: nine in higher education and three in basic education. Only five of the nine offer undergraduate degrees.
| School | Undergraduate? |
|---|---|
| Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design | Yes |
| School of Humanities | Yes |
| John Gokongwei School of Management | Yes |
| School of Science and Engineering | Yes |
| Dr Rosita G Leong School of Social Sciences | Yes |
| Graduate School of Business | Graduate only |
| School of Government | Graduate only |
| School of Law | Graduate professional |
| School of Medicine and Public Health | Graduate professional |
Ateneo's academics page puts the undergraduate offering at 49 majors and specializations.
Undergraduate majors, as Ateneo groups them
Arts and Humanities
- AB Art Management
- BFA major in Creative Writing
- BFA major in Information Design
- BFA major in Theater Arts
- AB Humanities
- AB Interdisciplinary Studies
- AB Literature (English)
- AB Philosophy
Education
- BS Learning Science and Design
This one is easy to miss. It is the only undergraduate degree under the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design, and its title is not the standard BSEd or BEEd naming that Philippine teacher-education programmes use. If a Licensure Examination for Teachers eligibility is the goal, ask the school directly how the curriculum maps to it rather than assuming.
Management and Entrepreneurship
- BS Communications Technology Management
- BS Information Technology Entrepreneurship
- BS Legal Management
- BS Management
- BS Management (Honors)
- BS Management Engineering
- BS Management of Applied Chemistry
- BS Restaurant Entrepreneurship
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
- BS Applied Mathematics - Master in Data Science
- BS/M Applied Mathematics with Specialization in Mathematical Finance
- BS Applied Physics - BS Materials Science and Engineering
- BS Biology
- BS Chemistry
- BS Chemistry - BS Materials Science and Engineering
- BS Computer Engineering
- BS Computer Science
- BS Computer Science - BS Digital Game Design and Development
- BS Electronics Engineering
- BS Environmental Science
- BS Health Sciences
- BS Innovation Design Engineering
- BS Life Sciences
- BS Management Information Systems
- BS Mathematics
- BS Physics
Several of these are five-year combined degrees rather than four-year bachelor's programmes — the hyphenated titles are the giveaway. Confirm the length with the school before you budget, because a double degree changes the total cost materially.
Social Sciences
- AB Chinese Studies
- AB Communication
- AB Development Studies
- AB Economics
- AB Economics (Honors)
- AB Management Economics
- AB European Studies
- AB History
- AB Diplomacy and International Relations with Specialization in East and Southeast Asian Studies
- AB Political Science
- AB Psychology
- BS Psychology
- AB Sociology
The AB and BS split in Psychology is the same distinction you find elsewhere and it matters for postgraduate and licensure plans. Our guide on BS versus AB Psychology covers what changes.
The honors marking
Ateneo's Degrees and Majors page marks a set of programmes with an asterisk and defines it in a footnote as Honors Programs (Top 15% of the applicants). Two carry it in the degree name — BS Management (Honors) and AB Economics (Honors) — and the marking also appears against BS Information Technology Entrepreneurship, BS Management Engineering, BS Psychology and most of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics entries.
That is what the page says. It reads oddly against the number of science programmes marked, so treat it as a signal to ask the Office of Admission and Aid what the honors designation means for the specific programme you want, rather than as a settled ranking of difficulty.
The core curriculum, which is a third of what you study
At Ateneo the major is only part of the degree. The core curriculum is compulsory across all undergraduate programmes, and the University describes it as the heart of the education rather than a set of general electives to get out of the way.
It was revised to absorb the K-12 basic education reform and the revised CHED General Education curriculum, beginning School Year 2018-2019. The courses are sequenced deliberately in four stages:
- Foundations — exploring and equipping the self
- Rootedness — investigating and knowing the world
- Deepening — defining the self in the world
- Leadership — engaging and transforming the world
Foundational courses sharpen language and communication and supply basic scientific and mathematical tools; faith, spirituality and self-understanding courses come next; then the world, then the self in the world.
Practically speaking, this means two things when you compare Ateneo against another school. Your unit load is not all major subjects, and a shift between majors inside Ateneo costs less than it would elsewhere because a large block of what you have already passed carries over.
Minors
Ateneo publishes a list of undergraduate minor programmes separately from the majors, run by five schools: Education and Learning Design, Management, Humanities, Science and Engineering, and Social Sciences.
The published list covers Chinese Studies, Creative Writing, Cultural Heritage Studies, Data Science and Analytics, Development Management, Economics, Education, Enterprise Development, Enterprise Systems, Financial Economics, Financial Management, French, Gender Studies, German, Global Politics, Health and Development, History, Humanitarian Action, Interactive Multimedia, International Business, Japanese Studies, Korean Studies, Literature (English), Management, Marketing, Music Literature, Panitikang Filipino, Philosophy, Public Management, Sociology, Southeast Asian Studies, Spanish, Strategic Human Resource Management, Sustainability, Theater Directing, Theatrical Performance, and Urban and Regional Development.
One caveat straight from the page: details are made available to current students by the departments concerned, and admission to minor programmes varies per department. A minor is not something you can count on securing at application time.
The co-curriculum
Alongside the core and the major sits the Integrated Ateneo Formation Program, which the University treats as part of the education rather than as extracurricular activity. It is worth factoring into your expectations of workload, because it is not optional.
What Ateneo does not publish
- Slot counts per major. Nothing on the public pages gives quotas.
- Cut-off scores. No published ACET score, index or grade threshold per programme.
- A per-programme tuition table. The published figures are university-level estimates with a note that science and engineering run slightly higher.
If a site quotes you an Ateneo cut-off, it is not coming from Ateneo.
Getting in
Ateneo's college admissions page frames the process as five steps: learn about the programmes, review the requirements for your track and prepare documents, create an account and complete the application through the portal, take the ACET or submit SAT scores or IB grades, then check your status and follow up on enrolment.
The important detail buried in step four is that the ACET is not the only route. Ateneo accepts SAT scores or IB grades depending on the applicant track. That matters for students in international curricula and for Filipinos finishing school abroad.
The University also states what it selects on: academic readiness, character and integrity, service and leadership, critical thinking and curiosity, and commitment to the common good. That is a values statement, not a rubric, but it tells you what the application form and any interview are trying to surface.
Our ACET guide covers the test itself. If you are comparing Ateneo against its usual rival on price, Ateneo versus La Salle tuition sets the two side by side.
What it costs
Ateneo publishes estimated per-semester tuition and fees. For School Year 2027-2028, the page lists tuition for 20 units at PHP 110,691, basic fees at PHP 17,394 and other fees at PHP 8,524, updated 17 June 2026. Additional charges apply for laboratory use and for overload units, and the University notes that School of Science and Engineering programmes are slightly higher because of laboratory fees. Payment is per semester, in two or four instalments, with methods and schedules released during enrolment.
Scholarships fall into merit, academic, athletic, financial aid, and government and private categories. Our Ateneo tuition fee guide works through the figures and the aid options in more detail.
Graduate and professional study
If you are looking past the bachelor's degree, Ateneo's nine higher-education schools are the Graduate School of Business, Education and Learning Design, Government, Humanities, Law, Management, Medicine and Public Health, Science and Engineering, and Social Sciences. Law and medicine at Ateneo are entered after a bachelor's degree, not from senior high school, which is worth saying plainly because the naming of undergraduate programmes such as BS Legal Management leads a lot of applicants to assume otherwise. If medicine is the goal, start with how to become a doctor in the Philippines.
