Adamson University's programme list is unusual in one specific way: its College of Engineering carries degrees that most Manila universities dropped or never offered. Petroleum engineering, mining engineering, chemical process technology and a mechatronics dual degree all sit on the same page as the standard civil and mechanical programmes. That is a direct legacy of the school's origins as the Adamson School of Industrial Chemistry in 1932.
Below is the full list as Adamson publishes it on its own Programs of Study page, grouped by college. Nothing here comes from a directory.
Adamson's location and contact details are on our Adamson University profile page. This post is about what it teaches.
College of Architecture
- BS Architecture
College of Business Administration
- BS Accountancy
- BS Business Administration major in Financial Management
- BS Business Administration major in Marketing Management
- BS Business Administration major in Operations Management
- BS Customs Administration
- BS Hospitality Management
BS Customs Administration is a genuinely distinct degree, not a business administration major, and it has its own professional path. Our BS Customs Administration guide explains what the qualification actually opens up.
College of Computing and Information Technology
- BS Computer Science
- BS Computer Science and Information Engineering
- BS Information Systems
- BS Information Technology
- Associate in Computer Technology (two-year course)
BS Computer Science and Information Engineering is the odd name here. It sits under computing rather than engineering at Adamson, so check the curriculum and the conferred degree carefully if you are choosing between it and BS Computer Engineering in the engineering college. Our BS Computer Science guide covers what CHED prescribes for the standard version, which is the benchmark to hold this one against.
College of Engineering
- BS Chemical Engineering
- BS Chemical Process Technology
- BS Civil Engineering
- BS Computer Engineering
- BS Electrical Engineering
- BS Electronics Engineering
- BS Industrial Engineering
- BS Mechanical Engineering
- BS Mining Engineering
- BS Petroleum Engineering
- BS Geology
- Dual Degree of BS Mechanical Engineering major in Mechatronics
Four things worth flagging in this list.
BS Chemical Process Technology is not BS Chemical Engineering. They are listed separately. Process technology programmes generally do not lead to the chemical engineering licensure examination in the way the engineering degree does. If licensure is your goal, confirm which one qualifies you before you enrol, because getting this wrong costs years. Our BS Chemical Engineering guide explains the licensure route.
BS Geology is filed under engineering here. At most schools it sits under science. The placement does not change the degree, but it does change which dean's office you deal with.
Mining and petroleum engineering are rare in Metro Manila. If either is your target, Adamson is one of a short list of options. Both are cyclical industries, so ask the college about recent graduate placement before you commit.
The mechatronics offering is labelled a dual degree. Adamson's page describes it as "Dual Degree of B.S. Mechanical Engineering major in Mechatronics". Ask admissions what the second degree is and who confers it, because a dual degree arrangement is a different commitment from a major.
College of Law
- Juris Doctor
Adamson's homepage groups College of Law applicants with Graduate School and Doctor of Pharmacy applicants under a separate admissions track from ordinary college freshmen, which makes sense: all three assume a completed bachelor's degree.
College of Education and Liberal Arts
- Bachelor of Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English
- Bachelor of Physical Education
- Bachelor of Physical Education major in Sports and Wellness Management
- BA Political Science
- BA Philosophy
- BA Communication
As at several Manila universities, the secondary education offering is a single major, English. If you want to teach mathematics or science, you would need to look elsewhere or take the professional education route after a content degree. Our guide on how to become a teacher in the Philippines sets out both paths.
College of Nursing
- BS Nursing
College of Pharmacy
- BS Pharmacy
- BS Clinical Pharmacy
- Doctor of Pharmacy
Three separate pharmacy qualifications is more than most Philippine universities carry. BS Pharmacy and BS Clinical Pharmacy are distinct undergraduate degrees with different practice orientations, and the Doctor of Pharmacy is a further qualification handled through a separate admissions track. Our clinical pharmacy schools guide explains the difference between the two undergraduate routes and which one leads where.
College of Science
- BS Biology
- BS Chemistry
- BS Psychology
Graduate School
Adamson's Graduate School list is one of the longer ones in Manila and leans heavily towards education, psychology and engineering:
- Doctor of Philosophy in Education with specialization in Educational Leadership
- Doctor of Philosophy in Education with specialization in Physical Education and Sports
- Doctor of Philosophy in Management
- Master of Arts in Education with specialization in School Administration and Supervision
- Master of Arts in Education with specialization in Guidance and Counseling
- Master of Arts in Education with specialization in Physical Education and Sports
- Master of Arts in Psychology with specialization in Clinical Psychology
- Master of Arts in Psychology with specialization in Industrial Psychology
- Master of Arts in Psychology with specialization in Developmental/Educational Psychology
- Master of Arts in Communication
- Master in Information Technology
- Master of Science in Chemistry
- Master of Science in Biology
- Master of Science in Pharmacy
- Master in Business Administration
- Master of Engineering major in Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
- Master of Science in Management Engineering
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering major in Geotechnical Engineering
- Master in Construction Management
Adamson also runs an offshore hybrid graduate studies track with its own admissions page, which is worth a look if you are working overseas.
St. Vincent School of Theology
- Doctor of Philosophy in Theology
- Master in Pastoral Ministry (non-thesis)
- Master of Arts in Theology major in Biblical Studies
- Master of Arts in Theology major in Liturgical Studies
- Master of Arts in Theology major in Systematic Studies
- Master of Arts in Theology major in Moral Studies
- Master of Arts in Theology major in Vincentian Studies
St. Vincent School of Theology appears inside Adamson's academics menu but maintains its own separate website. Treat it as a linked institution with its own admissions rather than an ordinary college of the university.
Basic Education
Adamson's Basic Education Department covers pre-school, grade school, junior high school and senior high school. The senior high offering is listed as STEM, ABM and HUMSS. Those three strands feed most of the college programmes above, though not all of them.
How many colleges, exactly
Adamson's own site does not agree with itself. The Academics Overview page says the university offers degrees "through its ten colleges". The About page says the quality of programmes "in all the nine colleges" is indicated by accreditations. The Colleges menu lists nine colleges, plus the Graduate School and St. Vincent School of Theology as separate entries.
This is a small thing, but it is the sort of small thing that tells you to verify the specific programme you want directly with the college rather than trusting a summary figure.
Admission and enrolment
Adamson runs a University Entrance Exam with its own subdomain. At the time of writing that page carried a holding message rather than a schedule, which is normal between admission cycles. Never plan around an entrance exam date you did not read on the university's live admissions page during the current cycle.
Enrolment is handled through the AdU Live portal, where students confirm block sections or enlist subjects individually. Adamson publishes detailed enrolment procedures covering subject enlistment, inclusion and deletion of subjects, petitioning for tutorial classes, and cross-enrolment.
Its published enrolment primer also states two different minimum down payment amounts in different paragraphs, one for the general case and a different figure for payments made through accredited banks and Bayad Center branches. Since those two numbers do not agree, do not budget from the page. Confirm the exact amount with the Cashier's Office. Our Adamson University tuition fee guide covers how the cost structure works, and Adamson's own published discount categories are cash payment in full, sibling discounts and alumnus' child discounts, each of which must be applied for.
Adamson also publishes cancellation charges on a sliding scale: a fixed amount for freshmen and transferees who cancel before classes, a smaller amount for old students, then 25 percent of the total due within the first week of classes, 50 percent within the second week, and the full amount after that. Withdrawal must be applied for in writing at the Registrar's Office within two weeks of the start of classes.
