Western Leyte College Main Building

Western Leyte College of Ormoc City traces its roots to July 1, 1945, when its founding incorporators opened Ormoc High School with about 300 students in makeshift bamboo-and-nipa classrooms. DepEd granted the school formal recognition on February 27, 1946, at which point it was renamed Western Leyte College under the Ormoc Educational Corporation, and it began offering college courses - an Associate in Arts and an Elementary Teacher's Certificate - in July 1946 before registering with the Securities and Exchange Commission in January 1947. This is the college's main building on A. Bonifacio Street in Ormoc City. Today WLC runs a High School Department (Grades 7-10 Junior High plus Senior High) offering the STEM, ABM, HUMSS and General Academics tracks, along with TVL strands in Computer System Servicing NC II, Cookery NC II and Caregiving NC II. Its college offerings span a School of Law (Juris Doctor and AB Political Science), a College of Accountancy and Business, a College of Education, a College of ICT and Engineering, a College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, a College of Hospitality Management, and a Graduate School with master's programs in Education. Campus facilities include a computer laboratory, a robotics laboratory, a drawing and computer systems servicing (CSS) laboratory, and a library.
