University of Santo Tomas - Santa Rosa Campus
UST Santa Rosa (UStaR) is a satellite campus of the University of Santo Tomas, the private Catholic research university founded in Manila in 1611 by Spanish Dominican friar Miguel de Benavides and holder of the oldest extant university charter in Asia. The Santa Rosa campus covers about 40 hectares in Don Jose, Santa Rosa City, Laguna, and is being developed as a science and engineering extension of the university, a project that was delayed for years by administrative changes and the prioritization of construction at the Manila campus. Its first building, the UST-Tony Tan Caktiong Innovation Center, broke ground in December 2020 and was inaugurated in June 2023 as an annex of the Department of Science and Technology's TOMASInno Center; a second building, the Dr. William T. Belo Interdisciplinary Research Institute, has since been planned. As of the most recent available information, UST officials were still meeting with DepEd Santa Rosa to plan future junior and senior high school offerings at the site, and the campus was not yet operating as a functioning senior high school or college campus. UST overall enrolls roughly 44,800 students across 22 degree-granting colleges.
