St. Scholastica's Academy
St. Scholastica's Academy-Bacolod (SSA-B) is a Catholic school run by the Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing on La Salle Avenue in Bacolod City, following the Benedictine motto "Ora et Labora" (prayer and work). It traces to 1975, when a 4.8-hectare Capitol Subdivision site was donated for a Bacolod branch of Manila's St. Scholastica's College; classes began in 1958 in temporary quarters at the Bacolod Shopping Center while the permanent campus was built, with the first 11 high school graduates in 1963. In 1969 SSA-B became the first high school in Western Visayas accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU); its Grade School Department was PAASCU-accredited in 1980. The school began accepting boys into its lower grades in 1988. SSA-B offers Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten, Grade School, Junior High School and Senior High School. Facilities include Biology, Chemistry and Physics laboratories, a computer laboratory, a sewing room and food laboratory, two covered courts, a gymnasium, an air-conditioned function hall (Maryville Hall), and a canteen. The school does not offer a college program.
