St. James Academy

St. James Academy is a Catholic school in Malabon City that traces its roots to 1926, when Manila Archbishop Michael O'Doherty founded it as the Malabon Normal School, the first Archdiocesan Catholic teacher-training institution, run by the Maryknoll Sisters. It was renamed St. James Academy in 1936 after the teacher-training and pre-school departments relocated to Manila. The Maryknoll Missionaries managed the school for 54 years until 1980, when administration passed to the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena, and since 2010 the school has been run by the Dominican Sisters of the Trinity. St. James Academy offers Early Childhood Education, Grade School, Junior High School and Senior High School, with the Senior High School offering the ABM, HUMSS, STEM and GAS academic strands. It is a PAASCU-accredited institution and a member of CEAP, MAPSA and KADSA. The school also runs a special evening program (SJAEC) for working students, which began in 2002.
