Pangasinan State University-Urdaneta City Campus

The Urdaneta City campus of Pangasinan State University began as an offshoot of the Asingan campus rather than as an institution in its own right. In 1981 Asingan added degree programmes in engineering and architecture, and the resulting growth in enrolment made a satellite necessary; Urdaneta was established to absorb it. It operated as a satellite of Asingan before assuming the status of a full-fledged campus within the university system. That origin still shows in what the campus is known for: Urdaneta and Asingan are the two units of Pangasinan State University most associated with engineering and technology programmes. Urdaneta City sits at a major junction in eastern Pangasinan where the roads toward Baguio, Dagupan and Manila meet, which gives the campus a catchment considerably wider than the city itself. The campus describes itself as the home of the topnotchers, having produced a number of licensure examination topnotchers across its board programmes. That is the campus's own characterisation rather than an external ranking, and is worth reading as such, but it reflects a genuine emphasis on board-programme outcomes.
