Pangasinan State University-Sta. Maria Campus

The Sta. Maria campus traces to 12 June 1950, when Congressman Luciano Millan of what was then the fifth congressional district of Pangasinan secured an appropriation of two hundred thousand pesos for the establishment, operation and maintenance of the Eastern Pangasinan National Agricultural School. After roughly six years of operation the school was converted into a college. Its collegiate programmes, along with some faculty and staff, facilities, equipment and buildings, were formally integrated into the Pangasinan State University system by Presidential Decree No. 1497 on 11 June 1978, taking effect in school year 1979-1980, at which point it became PSU Sta. Maria. The campus retains the agricultural orientation of its founding, and sits in the eastern uplands of the province where that mandate still fits the surrounding economy. The campus describes its progression as a movement from national agricultural high school, to agricultural college, to a component campus of the university. Its flagship agriculture programme has reached Level IV Phase I accreditation status, and the campus states its aim of becoming a Center of Excellence in Agriculture.
