Pangasinan State University - Lingayen

Pangasinan State University was created by Presidential Decree No. 1497, signed on 11 June 1978, which brought the collegiate programmes of several state-funded institutions across the province into a single university. It became operational on 1 July 1979. The Lingayen campus entered that system as the Pangasinan School of Arts and Trades, one of the institutions whose collegiate programmes were absorbed rather than the whole school. That distinction matters for reading the campus history: what moved into the university in 1978 were the degree programmes, faculty and facilities attached to them, while the trade school lineage stayed with the education department. Lingayen is the provincial capital and the campus sits close to the seat of provincial government on the Lingayen Gulf, which has kept it among the more central units of the university. Alongside Bayambang and Urdaneta it is one of the larger campuses in the system, and it carries a broad programme mix rather than the single-sector specialisation found at Binmaley or Infanta.
