Pangasinan State University-Infanta Campus

Pangasinan State University was created by Presidential Decree No. 1497, signed on 11 June 1978, which brought the collegiate programmes of several state-funded institutions across the province into a single university. It became operational on 1 July 1979. The Infanta campus has an unusual place in that history: it was created in its own right on the same day, by Presidential Decree No. 1494, as the College of Agriculture in Infanta, and was then integrated into the new university as its seventh unit. Land followed shortly after, with roughly 1,000 hectares in Barangay Bamban proclaimed for the college in August 1978. The campus did not begin operating immediately: teaching started in June 1981, and it earned autonomous status within the university system in January 1983. Its agricultural mandate has shaped what happens on the site since, including an Agricultural Education Outreach Project student village training centre run in cooperation with the education department from the late 1980s. The campus sits inland in eastern Pangasinan, and its programme mix continues to lean toward agriculture and allied fields.
