Negros Oriental Montessori International School

S.I.M.O.N. - Negros Oriental Montessori International School is a private, co-educational Montessori school established in 1995 by Dr. Maria Luz Calumpang-Fuentes, a Montessori-trained educator certified through the Maria Montessori Teacher's Training Center in San Francisco and a member of AMI, NAMTA and the International Montessori Society. It is located in Sibulan, near Dumaguete City, in Negros Oriental. The school has been administered by Johanna Marie "Honey" Amigo Teves since 2014. It follows Montessori educational principles, offering Junior Casa through Senior Casa (ages 2.5 to 5), Advanced Casa (ages 5 to 6), Lower and Upper Elementary (ages 6 to 12), and Junior High School (Grades 7 to 10), along with special education support. The school is DepEd-recognized and describes its philosophy in the words of Maria Montessori: education as a natural process carried out by the child through experience rather than by listening to words.
