Isabela State University, Echague
Isabela State University was established by Presidential Decree No. 1434 on 10 June 1978, merging the Isabela State College of Agriculture at Echague with the Cagayan Valley Institute of Technology at Cabagan. The college-level courses of three further institutions were transferred in at the same time: the Isabela School of Arts and Trades at Ilagan, the Jones Rural School at Jones, and the Roxas Memorial Agricultural and Industrial School at San Mateo. Echague was designated the main campus and administrative seat of the new university, and it holds the oldest lineage in the system. It traces to December 1918 and a farm school known as the Echague Farm School. The school was relocated and renamed Echague Rural High School in 1952, before becoming the Isabela State College of Agriculture that PD 1434 folded into the university. The agricultural origin still shows in the campus's programme profile and in the university's wider research and extension mandate for the Cagayan Valley.
