Cagayan State University, Aparri
The Aparri campus of Cagayan State University has one of the longer institutional histories in the Cagayan Valley, and it is a maritime one. It opened in 1952 as the Aparri School of Fisheries under the Philippine Fisheries Commission, reflecting the town's position at the mouth of the Cagayan River on the Babuyan Channel. Administrative responsibility passed to the Bureau of Public Schools in 1957, and in 1971 the school was elevated to the Aparri College of Fisheries. In 1978 it was absorbed into the newly chartered Cagayan State University alongside other state institutions in the province, becoming one campus of a multi-campus system rather than a standalone college. The fisheries lineage survives the reorganisation: the campus still runs a College of Fisheries and Marine Science, and its programme mix remains weighted toward fisheries, marine biology and allied fields, alongside business, criminal justice and teacher education. CHED lists 12 recognised programmes here.
