Cagayan State University, Andrews
Cagayan State University was created by Presidential Decree No. 1436 on 11 June 1978, consolidating existing post-secondary institutions across Cagayan into a single legal entity. That is why the university exists today as a constellation of campuses — Andrews, Carig, Piat, Lasam, Lal-lo, Aparri, Sanchez Mira and Gonzaga — rather than as one site with satellites. The Andrews campus at Caritan Sur in Tuguegarao City is the main campus and houses the university's central administration. It descends from the Cagayan Valley College of Arts and Trades, the Tuguegarao institution folded into the university at its founding. Its administrative role has not been constant: the central administration moved out to the newer Carig site on 11 June 1984, the sixth anniversary of the charter, and has since returned to Andrews. Tuguegarao is the regional centre of the Cagayan Valley, which keeps this campus the largest and most central of the eight.
