Bayambang Polytechnic College

Bayambang Polytechnic College is a municipal college, established on 27 June 2022 through Municipal Ordinance No. 05, series of 2022, subsequently approved by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 586-2022. It is among the newest higher education institutions in Pangasinan. Its stated purpose is to address an access gap rather than to compete with what already exists: Bayambang is also home to a campus of Pangasinan State University, and the polytechnic was created to serve students unable to enrol there. The college was an initiative of former mayor Dr. Cezar Quiambao and the incumbent local chief executive Niña Jose-Quiambao. Because it is run and funded by the municipal government rather than by the national government, it sits in a different category from the state universities and colleges that account for most public higher education in the province. The pairing is worth understanding for anyone choosing between them. The Pangasinan State University campus in Bayambang descends from the Bayambang Normal School of 1922 and is the state system's principal teacher-education site, with entry governed by university admission. The polytechnic is municipal, much newer, and was set up explicitly for students who do not secure a place there. They are neighbours serving different ends of the same demand.
