Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan publishes its undergraduate programme list in one place, and it publishes something more useful alongside it: an admissions FAQ that explains exactly how the entrance exam controls which courses you are even allowed to pick. At Xavier Ateneo the exam is not a pass or fail gate. Your percentile rank determines the menu.
This post covers the programmes as the university lists them, then the admission mechanics that decide the outcome. Location, contacts and the general overview are on the Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan profile.
College of Arts and Sciences
Xavier splits this college's list into AB and BS programmes, and several carry named tracks you choose at application, not later.
AB programmes
- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
- Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, in a General Track, a Development Studies Track, or an Advancement in Leadership Track
- Bachelor of Arts in Literature (Literary and Cultural Studies)
- Bachelor of Arts in English Language (English Language Studies)
- Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, in a Foreign Languages and Cultures Track or a Regional and Policy Studies Track
- Bachelor of Arts in Economics
- Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, in a Humanities Track, a Pre-Law Track, or a Pre-Divinity Track
BS programmes
- Bachelor of Science in Psychology
- Bachelor of Science in Biology
- Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
- Bachelor of Science in Development Communication
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, in Track A: Business and Finance, or Track B: Data Science
Two things stand out. Xavier offers both AB and BS Psychology, and the choice matters for licensure routing later; our guide on the difference between BS and AB Psychology covers what changes. And BS Marine Biology is a genuinely uncommon offering in Northern Mindanao.
School of Business and Management
- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
- Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Aviation Management, Financial Management, or Marketing Management
- Bachelor of Science in Legal Management
Note the transfer restrictions the university publishes with these: Accountancy does not accept transferees for the second semester, and Management Accounting accepts second-semester transferees only from BS Accountancy and BS Management Accounting. Accountancy is the licensure path here; management accounting and legal management are not.
School of Education
- Bachelor of Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Special Needs Education with specialization in Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English
- Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science
- Professional Education Courses
The secondary education offering is narrow: only English and Science majors are listed. If you want to teach mathematics, Filipino or social studies at secondary level, Xavier is not currently listing that route.
College of Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Transferees are accepted only upon college endorsement.
College of Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics major in Professional Pilot Studies
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Chemical, civil, electrical, electronics and mechanical engineering all correspond to boards on the Professional Regulation Commission's list of professional regulatory boards. Industrial engineering does not — there is no industrial engineering board in the Philippines. Neither Logistics and Supply Chain Management nor the Aeronautics pilot programme is a licensed engineering profession either; the pilot track leads instead to civil aviation licensing, which is a completely separate regulatory system run by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. Our BS Aviation guide explains how that path works and why it costs what it costs.
College of Agriculture
- Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness
- Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
- Bachelor of Science in Food Technology
- Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering
This is one of the stronger reasons to look at Xavier specifically. Agriculture, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, and Food Technology all correspond to PRC boards, so all three are licensure routes, which is unusual for a single college of this size.
College of Computer Studies
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
- Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing with specialization in Digital Animation Technology
- Bachelor of Science in Information Systems
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
The Entertainment and Multimedia Computing programme with a digital animation specialization is the standout here and is rare outside Metro Manila and Cebu.
School of Medicine and School of Law
Xavier Ateneo runs two professional schools. The School of Medicine appears on the undergraduate offerings list with a single entry, Advanced Medicine (AdMed). Because that sits on the undergraduate list rather than alongside the Doctor of Medicine, ask the School of Medicine directly what AdMed is and how it feeds into the medical degree before you treat it as a pre-medicine track. Our guide on how to become a doctor in the Philippines sets out the standard national sequence.
The School of Law and the graduate schools in education, business and management, and engineering run separate admission processes and publish their own fee sheets.
How admission actually works
This is where Xavier differs from most Philippine universities, and the university explains it unusually clearly in its admissions FAQ.
Admission and enrolment are two separate phases. You apply for admission to a programme once, through the Testing and Admissions Office. Enrolment in subjects happens every semester afterwards, through the Registrar's Office. You cannot enrol until an admissions application is approved.
Everyone tests. Freshmen sit the Xavier Ateneo Entrance Examination for Higher Education (EEHE). Transferees and second-degree applicants sit the Alternate Entrance Exam (AEE). Both must be taken and passed.
Your score decides your menu. Xavier confirms that cutoff scores exist for board programmes and are announced at the Testing unit orientation. Critically, the FAQ states that the courses available for selection in the admissions portal are based on your exam percentile rank eligibility. If your score clears the general admissions cutoff but not the cutoff for a board programme, that programme simply does not appear as an option for you. An applicant whose score does not meet the cutoff for their chosen programme may be placed on conditional status.
There are no retakes. The university states that under Testing and Admissions Office regulations, applicants are not permitted to retake the examination to improve their scores. One sitting, one percentile rank, one menu. That is a strong argument for preparing properly before you register rather than treating the first attempt as practice. Our comparison of Philippine college entrance exams covers how the major exams differ in structure.
Some board programmes add an interview. Xavier notes that certain board programmes require an interview and additional documents before final acceptance, and that incomplete submissions may delay or cause rejection of an application. Instructions arrive by email and through the portal.
The paperwork end point is the Admissions Clearance. Successfully processed applicants receive this by email as proof of acceptance into their programme, and it is the prerequisite for making the down payment and starting enrolment. Xavier says verification typically takes two to three working days once an application is complete, that regular entrance exam results appear about ten working days after the exam date, and that scholarship exam results can take at least a month.
Transferees prepare a Transcript of Records, Transfer Credentials (formerly Honorable Dismissal) and a Good Moral Certificate, uploaded during registration and submitted in hard copy to the University Registrar at enrolment. Our college admission requirements checklist covers the documents that recur nationally.
What Xavier publishes about cost
Xavier Ateneo publishes downloadable fee breakdowns rather than a single headline figure. The Estimated Tuition and School Fees page carries per-programme total cost sheets for higher education, separate sheets for the School of Law and School of Medicine, and separate basic education tables for the grade school, junior high and senior high.
The university also stated on that page that it implemented no tuition fee increase for AY 2026-2027. That is worth knowing when comparing against other private universities in the region; our Cagayan de Oro private schools roundup covers the local field.
Because the actual amounts live in downloadable files that change each cycle, take your figure from the current sheet for your exact programme rather than from any third-party quote. Xavier also runs a CHED loan student programme, a student loan facility, a family discount and its own scholarship offerings, with scholarship qualification determined from your entrance exam results and communicated through a Notice of Scholarship Award.
