UP Diliman publishes its undergraduate programmes as a single alphabetical list with a date stamp, and every entry links out to the department or college that actually runs it. That is useful once you know how to read it, but alphabetical order hides the thing applicants most need: which college you are applying into, because that determines your building, your quota, and in some cases an extra screening on top of the UPCAT.
Below is the same official list, regrouped by college. Address, contacts and level flags are on the University of the Philippines Diliman profile.
The four clusters
UP Diliman groups its degree-granting units into four clusters:
| Cluster | Units |
|---|---|
| Arts and Letters | College of Arts and Letters, College of Fine Arts, College of Human Kinetics, College of Media and Communication, College of Music |
| Management and Economics | Asian Institute of Tourism, Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business, School of Economics, School of Labor and Industrial Relations, National College of Public Administration and Governance, School of Urban and Regional Planning, Technology Management Center, UPD Extension Programs in Pampanga and Olongapo |
| Science and Technology | School of Archaeology, College of Architecture, College of Engineering, College of Home Economics, College of Science, School of Library and Information Studies, School of Statistics |
| Social Sciences and Law | Asian Center, College of Education, Institute of Islamic Studies, College of Law, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, College of Social Work and Community Development |
Not every unit takes first-year students. The Asian Center, the School of Urban and Regional Planning, the Technology Management Center, the School of Labor and Industrial Relations, the Institute of Islamic Studies and the School of Archaeology have no undergraduate degree on the published list.
Undergraduate programmes by college
College of Arts and Letters
Art Studies (with tracks in Art History, Interdisciplinary and Philippine Art), Comparative Literature, Creative Writing, English Studies: Language, English Studies: Literature, European Languages, Filipino, Malikhaing Pagsulat, Philippine Studies, Speech Communication, Theatre Arts.
College of Fine Arts
Art Education, Art History, Industrial Design, Painting, Sculpture, Visual Communication — all under the Bachelor of Fine Arts.
College of Music
Music.
College of Media and Communication
Broadcast Communication, Communication Research, Journalism.
Film sits alongside them; the campus list routes it to the UP Film Institute rather than to a departmental page.
The UPCAT programme list carries the broadcast entry under the newer name BA Broadcast Media Arts and Studies while the campus page still shows Broadcast Communication. Same programme, two labels in circulation.
College of Human Kinetics
Physical Education, Sport Science, Sports Studies.
College of Engineering
Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Geodetic, Industrial, Materials, Mechanical, Metallurgical and Mining Engineering. Our best engineering schools guide sets the college against its peers.
College of Architecture
Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Building Technology. The UPCAT list marks BS Architecture as a five-year programme.
College of Science
Applied Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Physics.
School of Statistics
Statistics.
School of Library and Information Studies
Library and Information Studies.
College of Home Economics
Clothing Technology, Community Nutrition, Family Life and Child Development, Food Technology, Home Economics, Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Management, Interior Design.
Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business
Business Administration, Business Administration and Accountancy. The UPCAT list marks the second as a four-and-a-half-year programme. If accountancy is the target, our BS Accountancy guide covers the licence route.
School of Economics
Economics, Business Economics.
Asian Institute of Tourism
Tourism.
National College of Public Administration and Governance
Public Administration.
College of Education
Elementary Education, Secondary Education.
College of Social Sciences and Philosophy
Anthropology, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology.
College of Social Work and Community Development
Community Development, Social Work.
College of Law
Juris Doctor. It appears on the undergraduate page but it is a professional degree entered after a bachelor's, and it is not on the UPCAT first-year list.
UPD Extension Programs in Pampanga and Olongapo
Applied Psychology, Business Economics, Business Management. On the UPCAT programme list these appear as a separate campus block, UPEP Pampanga, with their own course codes. Selecting them is selecting a different campus, not a Diliman course.
The extra gates
Clearing the UPCAT is not always the last step at Diliman. The UP Office of Admissions programme list carries footnotes against specific programmes:
- Talent test required for Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music and BA Theater Arts. Qualifying on the UPCAT gets you to the talent test, not past it.
- Concentration choice on enrolment for BA English Studies: you pick either English Language or English Literature.
- Art Studies carries its own tracks in Art History, Interdisciplinary Studies and Philippine Art.
Graduate and postgraduate study
Diliman's graduate list is far longer than its undergraduate one, and several units exist only at that level. The published alphabetical list runs from Anthropology through to Media Studies and beyond, with the level codes attached to each field — Dip for diploma, M or MA or MS for master's, ME or MEng for professional engineering master's, PhD or DBA for doctorate.
A few things stand out for anyone planning ahead from an undergraduate degree here:
- Fields with no undergraduate counterpart include Archaeology (diploma through PhD), Artificial Intelligence (MEng and PhD), Data Science (PhD), Demography, Development Economics, Marine Science, Islamic Studies, Industrial Relations, Archives and Records Management, and Environmental Engineering. If any of those is the destination, the undergraduate route into it is a related Diliman degree, not a direct one.
- Professional master's tracks exist alongside academic ones in engineering, with ME and MS variants listed separately.
- The Asian Center, Institute of Islamic Studies, School of Urban and Regional Planning, School of Labor and Industrial Relations, Technology Management Center and School of Archaeology all appear here rather than on the undergraduate list.
Graduate admission is handled by the units themselves, not by the UPCAT.
Non-baccalaureate options
The UP Office of Admissions also publishes a separate list of certificate and associate programmes for which the UPCAT is not required. At Diliman these are the two-year Associate in Arts programmes in Music (College of Music), Industrial Design, Studio Arts and Visual Communication (College of Fine Arts). Other campuses run their own, including three-year Certificate in Fine Arts programmes at UP Baguio and UP Cebu.
These are a genuine alternative route for applicants who did not qualify through the UPCAT but want a UP-issued credential in the arts, and they are almost never mentioned in the usual advice.
What UP Diliman does not publish
- Quotas per programme. UP states that slots are limited per campus and per course, set by the deans, but does not publish the numbers.
- Cut-off UPG. No figure, anywhere, for any course.
- A per-programme tuition table, because the tuition question is governed by law rather than by a campus price list.
How UPCAT entry to Diliman works
UP's Office of Admissions describes the test as four subtests: Language Proficiency in English and Filipino, Reading Comprehension in English and Filipino, Science, and Mathematics. Standardised UPCAT scores are combined with the composite of final grades in Grades 8 to 11 to produce the admission score, the UPG. Socio-economic and geographic considerations are factored into which applicants qualify for which campus, under UP's democratisation policy.
Two consequences are worth stating plainly:
- UP limits slots per campus and per programme. The Office of Admissions says so directly. Diliman is the most heavily applied-to campus in the system, so a UPG that qualifies elsewhere may not qualify here.
- No cut-off score is published. Not by campus, not by course. Any number you see quoted as the Diliman cut-off is somebody's estimate.
Our UPCAT Diliman guide goes deeper on campus-specific strategy, and UPCAT qualification explained unpacks the UPG.
What it costs
UP is a state university, and Republic Act 10931 provides free tuition for qualified Filipino undergraduates in state universities. Older UP pages still display the Socialized Tuition System framework, with income brackets A through E2, per-unit rates for Diliman, Los Baños and Manila, and the Grants-in-Aid Program that can waive miscellaneous fees and add a monthly stipend. Those describe the earlier arrangement.
Because the published tables and the statute are not describing the same regime, confirm your own assessment with the Office of the University Registrar. Our UP Diliman tuition guide and UP socialized tuition guide work through both.
