TL;DR: Batangas State University, which now brands itself The National Engineering University, publishes 21 undergraduate engineering degrees — including Ceramics, Metallurgical, Petroleum, Aerospace, Automotive, Geological and Naval Architecture, which almost no other Philippine university carries. It also runs a separate College of Engineering Technology with 11 more degrees, plus medicine, law, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, health sciences, teacher education and business. The catch is geography: the university has a dozen campuses and each one carries a different slice of the list. Engineering is Alangilan. Medicine, law and health sciences are Pablo Borbon. Agriculture is Lobo.
Everything below is taken from BatStateU's own programmes and campuses pages. Where the university makes a claim about accreditation or ranking, it is flagged as the university's own statement.
For address, contacts and reviews of the engineering campus, see the Batangas State University Alangilan campus profile on SchoolFinderPH. This post is the programme list and the campus map.
First, the campuses — because they decide everything
BatStateU's campuses page describes five constituent campuses and six extension campuses, plus a new campus at LIMA Estate the university says is set to open in 2026.
| Campus | What the university says it carries |
|---|---|
| Pablo Borbon (Batangas City) | The first campus. Accountancy, Business, Economics and International Hospitality Management; Health Sciences; Arts and Sciences; Law; Teacher Education; Criminal Justice Education; the Integrated School; and the new College of Medicine. Central administration sits here. |
| Alangilan | Engineering, Architecture Fine Arts and Design, Engineering Technology, and Informatics and Computing Sciences |
| Lipa | Business and management under CABEIHM; communication and psychology under Arts and Sciences |
| ARASOF Nasugbu | Fisheries and aquatic sciences, hospitality and hotel and restaurant management, business |
| JPLPC Malvar | Mostly industrial technology programmes |
| Lemery | Business administration, accounting management, technical-vocational teacher education |
| Rosario | CABEIHM, Industrial Technology, Teacher Education |
| San Juan | Teacher Education and Business Administration |
| Balayan | Industrial and engineering technology — civil, drafting, electronics |
| Lobo | College of Agriculture and Forestry |
| Mabini | Information technology, marketing management, management accounting, development communication |
| LIMA | New campus at LIMA Estate, described by the university as industry-based learning, opening 2026 |
Read that table before you read the programme lists. A BatStateU degree that exists on paper may not exist within commuting distance of you.
Engineering: 21 undergraduate degrees
This is the reason the university renamed itself. The College of Engineering, at Alangilan, publishes:
- BS Chemical Engineering
- BS Food Engineering
- BS Ceramics Engineering
- BS Metallurgical Engineering
- BS Civil Engineering, with specialisations in Construction Engineering Management, Geotechnical, Structural, Transportation, and Water Resources Engineering
- BS Sanitary Engineering
- BS Geodetic Engineering
- BS Geological Engineering
- BS Transportation Systems Engineering
- BS Electrical Engineering, with specialisations in Machine Automation and Process Control, and Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development
- BS Computer Engineering
- BS Electronics Engineering, with specialisations in Computer Communication, Microelectronics, and Telecommunications and Building Infrastructures
- BS Instrumentation and Control Engineering
- BS Mechatronics Engineering
- BS Aerospace Engineering
- BS Biomedical Engineering
- BS Industrial Engineering
- BS Mechanical Engineering
- BS Petroleum Engineering
- BS Automotive Engineering
- BS Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Several of these are genuinely hard to find elsewhere in the Philippines. Ceramics, Metallurgical, Petroleum, Geological, Aerospace and Naval Architecture are each offered by only a handful of institutions nationally, so if one of them is your target, this list is a real reason to look at Batangas rather than Manila.
Not all 21 lead to a Professional Regulation Commission licensure examination, and this is the single most important thing to check before you enrol. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, Sanitary, Geodetic, Metallurgical and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering are regulated professions with their own PRC board examinations. Several others on the list — Aerospace, Automotive, Biomedical, Ceramics, Food, Industrial, Instrumentation and Control, Mechatronics, Petroleum, Transportation Systems and Computer Engineering — have no separate PRC licensure examination of their own. That is not a reason to avoid them, but it changes what your first job hunt looks like, and it is worth knowing in first year rather than fourth. Check the PRC's own list of regulated professions for your target degree rather than assuming that an engineering degree implies a board exam. Our guides to the sanitary engineering board exam and the geodetic engineering board exam cover two of the less-discussed licensed routes.
BatStateU also states on its own engineering page that its Electronics Engineering programme is a CHED-designated Center of Excellence, that Electrical and Mechanical Engineering are Centers of Development, and that it is the first state university in the country with multiple engineering programmes accredited by the US-based ABET. Those are the university's claims; CHED and ABET publish their own current lists if you want to verify before applying.
Engineering graduate programmes
The engineering graduate list is unusually deep: doctorates in Electronics Engineering, Engineering Education and Engineering Management; Master of Science routes in Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Manufacturing, Computer Engineering, Construction Management, Earthquake Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Management, Energy Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Transportation Systems Engineering; and Master of Engineering routes in Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Environmental, Industrial and Mechanical Engineering. The university also publishes straight-through tracks: Straight Master's to Doctorate in Electronics Engineering, and Straight Bachelor's to Master's in Electronics Engineering.
Engineering Technology: a separate college, 11 degrees
This is where people get confused, so be clear about it. The College of Engineering Technology at Alangilan awards Bachelor of Engineering Technology degrees, not Bachelor of Science in Engineering degrees. They are different qualifications aimed at applied and technical roles.
| Programme | Also offered at |
|---|---|
| Bachelor of Automotive Engineering Technology | Balayan, JPLPC Malvar |
| Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology | Balayan, JPLPC Malvar |
| Bachelor of Computer Engineering Technology | Balayan, JPLPC Malvar, Lipa |
| Bachelor of Drafting Engineering Technology | Balayan, JPLPC Malvar |
| Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Technology | Balayan, JPLPC Malvar, Lipa |
| Bachelor of Electronics Engineering Technology | Balayan, JPLPC Malvar, Lipa |
| Bachelor of Food Engineering Technology | JPLPC Malvar |
| Bachelor of Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology | Balayan, Lipa |
| Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology | Balayan, JPLPC Malvar |
| Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering Technology | JPLPC Malvar |
| Bachelor of Welding and Fabrication Engineering Technology | Alangilan only |
The graduate side offers a Doctor of Technology and a Master of Technology, both at Alangilan.
If your goal is to sit an engineering board exam, you want the College of Engineering, not this college. If your goal is a hands-on technical career, this college is spread across far more campuses and is much easier to reach.
Informatics and computing sciences
At Alangilan:
- BS Computer Science
- BS Information Technology
- Master of Science in Computer Science, Master in Information Technology, Master of Science in Data Science and Analytics
BS Information Technology is the widest-spread degree in the whole university, published at Alangilan, Balayan, Mabini, JPLPC Malvar, ARASOF Nasugbu and Lipa. BS Computer Science, by contrast, appears only at Alangilan. If you want the computer science degree specifically rather than IT, that narrows your options to one campus — and the two degrees are not interchangeable, as our BS Computer Science guide explains.
Arts and sciences
Undergraduate programmes published:
- BA English Language Studies
- BA Communication
- BS Biology
- BS Chemistry
- BS Criminology
- BS Development Communication
- BS Mathematics
- BS Psychology
- BS Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences
By campus: Pablo Borbon carries English Language Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Development Communication, Mathematics and Psychology. Lipa carries Psychology and Communication. JPLPC Malvar carries Psychology only. ARASOF Nasugbu carries Communication, Psychology, Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, and Food Technology.
Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the coastal Nasugbu campus is a genuine specialism, and it connects to the marine research facility the university operates at Lobo on the Verde Island Passage.
Graduate programmes here include a PhD in English major in Language and Literature, a PhD in English, an MA in English major in Language and Literature, MS Mathematics, Master in Chemistry, MA in Development Studies, MS Marine Biology and a Master of Development Communication.
Business, accountancy, hospitality and public administration
The College of Accountancy, Business, Economics and International Hospitality Management (CABEIHM) publishes:
- BS Accountancy
- BS Management Accounting
- BS Business Administration with majors in Business Economics, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management and Operations Management
- BS Entrepreneurship
- Bachelor in Public Administration
- BS Hospitality Management
- BS Tourism Management
- BS Customs Administration
Customs Administration is the outlier worth flagging — it is a specific, licensed career path in customs brokerage that most universities do not carry.
Graduate programmes include a Doctor of Business Administration, Doctor of Public Administration, MBA, Master of Public Administration, and master's degrees in Disaster Risk Management, Port Management and Supply Chain Management, plus a non-degree Diploma in Disaster Risk Management. Port Management and Disaster Risk Management are unusual and clearly tied to the province's ports and hazard profile.
The full CABEIHM list sits at Pablo Borbon; Rosario, Lipa, Lemery, San Juan and Mabini carry subsets.
Health sciences and medicine
The College of Health Sciences publishes three undergraduate degrees:
- BS Nursing
- BS Nutrition and Dietetics
- BS Public Health (Disaster Response)
These are listed at Pablo Borbon and ARASOF Nasugbu. BS Public Health with a disaster response focus is not a common Philippine undergraduate offering.
The College of Medicine, at Pablo Borbon, began operating in August of academic year 2021-2022 following Board of Regents approval in December 2020. The university describes the four-year curriculum as including community health courses, medical informatics and interprofessional education, and frames the college as a response to Republic Act 11509, the Doktor Para sa Bayan Act, which established a medical scholarship and return service programme for medical students. Return service is a real obligation, not a formality — read the terms before you count on the scholarship.
Teacher education
Undergraduate programmes:
- Bachelor of Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor of Secondary Education, majors in Science, English, Filipino, Mathematics and Social Studies
- Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education major in Home Economics
- Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education, majors in Garments, Fashion and Design, and in Electronics Technology
- Bachelor of Physical Education
Graduate routes run to a Doctor of Education in Educational Management, a PhD in Educational Management, a PhD in Mathematics Education, and an MA in Education across educational management, mathematics, science, English, Filipino, physical education, psychology, social studies and TLE teaching.
Architecture, law, agriculture and criminal justice
Architecture, Fine Arts and Design (Alangilan): BS Architecture, BS Interior Design, Bachelor of Fine Arts and Design major in Visual Communication, and a Master in Urban Planning and Design.
Law (Pablo Borbon): the College of Law was established in 2005. Law is a post-baccalaureate programme with its own admission process.
Agriculture and Forestry (Lobo): BS Agriculture and BS Forestry, at a campus running agricultural education since 1997 with a 30-hectare experimental farm.
Criminal Justice: BS Criminology, at Pablo Borbon, ARASOF Nasugbu and JPLPC Malvar.
The university also runs an ETEEAP pathway and a Basic Education integrated school.
Admission and cost
BatStateU runs a Testing and Admission Office with units at each constituent campus, supervised centrally. Its published role covers disseminating programme offerings and examination schedules, administering tests, and evaluating applications as the basis for issuing an admission test permit and a notice of admission "based on the quota set by the University."
Two practical consequences of that phrasing. First, there is a real entrance examination, unlike at several private universities. Second, admission is quota-based per programme, so a passing score is not automatically a slot in the programme you named. Examination schedules and application windows shift every cycle; take them from the university's admissions page, never from a repost. If you are sitting several entrance exams, our comparison of Philippine college entrance exams covers how they differ.
On cost: as a state university, BatStateU falls under Republic Act 10931, the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, which provides free tuition and other school fees at state universities and colleges for students meeting the law's conditions. It is not a blanket waiver — see our free tuition universities guide for what the law covers and how eligibility is lost.
